UK Press Event Round Up

A UK Press event took place during this week revealed quite a bit about the game's classes, trees, and more. Along with the hands on is information about the Advanced Classes, Species, and more. Listed below are links to the various outlets that attended:

Eurogamer: Advanced Classes, Hands on, Video
The Galactic Struggle: Hands on, Interview with Jake Neri
Strategy Informer: Interview with Daniel Erickson
Gamespot: Hands on, Interview with Daniel Erickson
VG247: Interview with Jake Neri
Edge Online: Interview with Daniel Erickson

As a caveat, you might want to read our class speculation article and the chart we made back in December.

Update: New high quality version of the Advanced Classes:

...each Advanced Class will have a further three branches of skills to specialise in (equivalent to World of Warcraft's talent specialisation options on a single class). The first two skill trees are particular to your Advanced Class, while the the third is a shared set of skills which expand on the core abilities of the main class. (Eurogamer)

Note: We will add other articles about the press event as we find them.

I wondered what that 3rd box was.

Lol, when I first glanced over this post, I thought it said, "Did you see the 'Shred Skillet' box..." That would've been an awesome power!

Taxi System is EXACTLY how I called it :P

Reading Eurogamers preview of the advanced classes system tells me something different. It mentions that two of the trees are unique and one shared. Making there only 5 trees per class.

"The first two skill trees are particular to your Advanced Class, while the the third is a shared set of skills which expand on the core abilities of the main class."

I thought this at first too. But in reality that shared tree will still be different. One will be a tank going down that tree. One will be dps. Though they will be similar they will be different. So I still see it as 6 trees per class.

You told us so, yes you did.

Why is it that; when you guys go to a hands on, we get three pages of in-depth reporting that captures ever detail, but when others go, we get 3 paragraphs of; So, we played the Bounty Hunter and that was cool?

After Emlaeh's Trooper report, I felt like I had played the damn thing. After this report, I'm pretty sure they played a Bounty Hunter who starts on Hutta. Hey! Thanks for that news flash!

lol so true. When I heard UK press event I thought "Dang, guess this means DH won't be there".The Galactic Struggle article was pretty good at least he mentioned the vendors, spaceport, bazaar, speeder vendors. The Eurogamer reporter completely missed them or didn't bother to look.

    Also, "Rikkitaki"
  • #24 Drenarb
Judging from other spelling errors and grammar errors, and also the apparent lack of interest in getting details in that Eurogamer article, look at this: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Rattataki
  • #25 heybarn
Yeah, NSFW or kids looking up "Rikkitaki" on Google images compared to actual "Rattataki" as it should be. Oh dear...
  • #32 Xavier
Not to mention that Eurogamer got some facts completely wrong.

"The first Advanced Classes to be revealed are those for the Sith Warrior. Choosing Juggernaut will shape this warrior into a tough, damage-soaking tank class, while the Marauder is all about channelling rage and maximising damage output. "

Umm, no. The first Advanced Classes were the Smuggler's Scoundrel and Gunslinger. You're about 6 months slow on the uptake their Eurogamer. But hey, thanks for playing!

Actually, the SW advanced class choices were revealed in October back when they were first released at IGN. It was confirmed one was offense, the other hybrid offense/defense. This is the first time they're named.

    Don't be hating.

    Colio,
They were clearly talking about having them be the first named Advanced Classes, they were not referring to a statement from last summer saying there would be two classes. This was presented as the first time classes had been named, and they are wrong. It's not hating, it's correcting.

Agreed. While there were definitely some good bits revealed, most of what was written was a very general summary.
