Hmm, very nice. I think I'm going for the audio book on this one.

I'm still a bit iffy on the whole 'joining together to defeat a greater evil' thing, but I'll reserve judgment until I read -well, hear- the entire thing.

My mom works for Random House, I'm going to see if she can hook me up with the audio version. I like the SW audio books, they always do a really good job. You just have to get used to some random dude trying to talk like a girl for all the girl parts...

    That is pretty well done.

I've already placed to the book on pre-order, so I'm good there; however, this is the first time I have heard an audio version of a book.

So was the sound effects only part of the clip we heard or is the whole audio version going to have sound effects? Although I don't listen to books, I might reconsider for this one if the sound effects are in, I wouldn't mind listening to this while I'm at work.

Every Star Wars audio book that I have listened to uses these sound effects throughout.

Same here. They usually do a pretty good job with the effects. The best I remember was actually a full-cast audio drama of the Tales of the Jedi and Dark Lords of the Sith comic series.

Audio versions are rather common, just not advertised as much. People who are on the move quite a bit (driving/traveling a lot) prefer audio books over traditional books. As for the sound effects, this is also my first time listening to an audio version, so I do not know. I do admit it is rather tempting due to the sound effects, but it costs more than twice as much as the hardcover.

I believe the extra cost for the audio is for the fact that it also includes the hardcover book with the audio. This makes this deal too good to pass up for me. I get to read the book at my leisure and listen to the audio while I'm furiously working at work =)

Depends on the book really. Non-fiction stuff in the form of audio books are usually pretty dry without sound effects added to them mainly because they are trying to convey information clearly. Fiction books on the other hand usually try to incorporate them into the book in order to deepen the immersion of the reader. From what I heard of the audio excerpt it is not out of the ordinary among fiction audio books.

I am impressed with the quality of the audio version. It's how I will be buying my copy.

Thank you very much. Not a big fan of audiobooks, i rather let my eyes do the job :P
Still counting the days when the book arrives, can't wait.

Also, is the action taking place during the war before the Treaty?
