Our working dissection of the Space Combat Video is after the jump. I think this is Ord Mantell not Corellia. http://darthhater.com/uploads/blog_images/6546/scdiss7.jpg Everyone keeps grasping at Corellia, and I understand why, but given water to land ratio Ord Mantell is more likely.

If the ship is in space (a vacume) how is the smoke getting blown back from the ship when it is damaged?
Shouldn't the smoke particals hang around the ship as a cloud until the ship changes direction?

Honestly I like the Space combat The Old Republic has offered to us, they are showing us what we need to do instead of putting us out there and saying hey good luck go at all the while hoping we get it. Plus that could just be one side to the space combat; honestly we just saw one video who said that, that is all the space combat is going to be like?

Well here is a link to an interview pretty much confirming PC Gamer pulled the idea of future space PvP out of their butts. They aren't developing space pvp and don't plan on doing so.

Looks like Star Fox or Rogue Squadron, both of which I loved. I'll be more than pleased if this really is a smooth, fast arcade-style shooter.

I'm actually happy with what I'm seeing. To me, it's like an expansion on the KotOR turret shooter--a side game to play every once-in-awhile. Nothing that would take mass amounts of the developers' attention away from building the other, more important aspects of the game.

Yeah, I agree 100%. I don't think the fact that the "space" element in KOTOR was merely a one-dimensional turret shooter took away from that game's overall quality. This is way better than that, while, as you said, allowing them to focus on the part of the game that BioWare has deemed the focus. Besides, who wouldn't want their own Assault on the Death Star or Battle of Coruscant?

SOMETHING I JUST NOTICED after going back to watch the sith warrior trailer, when he talks about his master, it looks like the person he refers to as his master is the SAME person who gives you your ship in the space combat trailer.

It is at the very least the same body type and the same armor

i think image 12 is from mass effect 2...what the illusive man stares at out his window half the game...

which means the 1st expansion = Mass effect v.s. Star wars

Very nice dissection guys. Aside from the little tidbits of info on player ships, this trailer was terrible imo. I was never happy about the whole rail shooter thing, but after seeing this, I'm truly sad. There's not even a cross hair in front of your ship. Did you see the way the lasers were flying? It looks as though everything is being auto targeted, or perhaps tab targeted, which is the same thing. I'm happy for everyone who is excited about space, but I'm now with the people who could care less about space.
