Friday Update: Fan Friday, Biographies, and Awards

This week's update is a Fan Friday:

Joanne Laroche
Welcome to another exciting Fan Friday where we shine the spotlight on creative accomplishments from The Old Republic community, as well as share a behind-the-scenes look in the Developer Corner. We also have new avatars and smilies, and don't forget to vote in the polls we posted up!

Along with the Fan Friday is a new Awards page:

Joanne Laroche
We are honored by the many awards Star Wars: The Old Republic has earned from the press and media, and were committed to continuing to push for the highest quality gaming experience. We want to thank our fans and the media for their support and recognition. Your partnership is critical to making this project a success.

Creating a game that people enjoy is important to us, so were putting up the Star Wars: The Old Republic Awards page to share with everyone all the great attention the game has received!

Last but not least are three new Biographies that include Keeper, Bouris Ulgo, and Diab Duin. Aurebesh Translation after the jump along with a discussion on the details therein.
Aurebesh Translation

A few of the things listed for Bouris Ulgo have meaning in the lore. Vanlan points out a few of them in the comment section:

Search for the Crown (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Crown_prince_of_Alderaan_%28Great_Galactic_War%29 ?)
For Trask (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Trask_Ulgo )

I think the Update was Ok, The Best I think was the "Keeper". I hope next week it somewithing about the Imperial Agent or even crafting.

I assume you plan on playing an IA, hence why the only thing you found "interesting" was info about the Keeper which is related to the IA. ;)

Wound in the Force::GoHann (lvl 35 Maurader)

This is not the gameplay you are looking for. Move along, move along.

These characters will be a big part of the gameplay, so I'm glad we're learning about them ahead of time. It might be harder to get to know these characters in-game when you're being rushed by your group. :P

I wasn't very impressed with the characters.

That republic guy reminds me of A-Team's Murdoc. Any "spymaster" sounds like rubbish to me, not to mention he doesn't look mysterious at all with his toad face. And I couldn't care less about some Sullistan, they're generally the race that fills the "getting killed" role in Star Wars. Apparently he's got a wife called Peggy on Sullista, since he's Married with Children.

Compared to the completely impressive Malgus, Bowdaar, Mandelore, Grand Moff Kilram etc etc these just make me yawn.

Lets hope I can at least get a "kill" option on meeting them.

I really dig the ex-Republic guy. He settled the Alderaan Civil War by taking things into his own hands, which I think needed to be done. The Sullustan is cool, I dig his resistance to corruption. It's nice to see a politician who won't be swayed by bribes and such. And on Sullustans filling a role of "getting killed", need I remind you that the only Sullustan in the SW movies(Nien Nunb in RotJ) actually survived. He outlived Vader and the Emperor. :P

And I can't say much on the Imperial Spy since Empire's not my thing. He looks intriguing though.

Maybe you're just jaded after getting used to how the Biography section works. Bowdaar's bio could be arguably called yawn-fest too. "Gladiator who's won every fight he's ever been in? Come on." Grand Moff Kilran? "Another evil Imperial moff? Wake me up when Tarkin leaves the room."

Sorry, didn't mean to attempt to spoil your fun on the characters or anything. You know how big a fanboy I usually am. Just these characters made me yawn. Alot.

Glad you enjoy them at least. Always nice to know Bioware hasn't wasted their time with the no doubt timely creation of these characters.

    lmao!

I've been moving along for 2 years now!

    Have a bit of mercy.

    .

Not a shabby update, always nice to get info on game content and being able to see all this information fit into the game when we actually get to play it. I actually hope that the concept art for Kaas City becomes an in-game reality, because I love Big Dark Pointy Citadels!

I'll say one thing, it's nice to, seemingly, have Twi'leks confirmed for the Imperial side.

On the dev corner, the character in the concept art of Kaas City is Twi'lek (Inquisitor, by the looks of it).

Saw this too. Hope it's as legitimate as it looks.

I really hope the release date gets pushed back so we can get more awesome Fan Fridays like this one.
  • #34 TIIME
    ...yup.
  • #32 Elkesai
Duin's biography reminds me a bit of Adlai Stevenson when he was ambassador to the UN. Perceived as indecisive, but really truly thoughtful. Not that anyone would know who I'm talking about.
