Friday Update: New Agent Intel

This week's update brings us up to speed on the Imperial Agent, including a fairly lengthy gameplay video. Also revealed is the Agent's personal ship, the X-70B Phantom-Class Prototype. We first caught a glimpse of the sleek and stylish vessel during our dissection of the first space combat video back in August. Included in the reveal is a nice collection of interior screenshots and concept art, as well as a walkthrough video.
We also learn about the Agent's two Advanced Classes, the Sniper and the Operative. The Operative appears to be a stealth-centric close range support class, and the Sniper appears to be a long range heavy hitter. Finally we learn a little about the Imperial Agent's back story, including Kaliyo Djannis, the mysterious and intimidating Rattataki companion, and a little about how the isolated and secretive Chiss were brought under the Empire's influence.
The aurebesh translations from the various pages can be found after the jump, as well as a working dissection of the ship and gameplay videos, and the original forum post from Alyson Bridge.
The Imperial Agent class delivers an experience unlike any other in Star Wars: The Old Republic, and this week, were excited to share new details that highlight what makes the Agent so unique.
Learn about the Agents Advanced Classes and the combat tactics they rely on. Specialize as a Sniper and leverage distance and concealment to get an edge on your enemies, or master stealth, surprise, and combat medicine to become a versatile and deadly Operative.
In addition, check out the following updates for more intel on the Imperial Agent class:
- If you're looking for a companion with attitude, visit the Biographies section to read about the Agents dangerously charming Rattataki companion, Kaliyo.
- Aliens are incredibly rare among the ranks of Imperial Intelligence, but if that sounds like your kind of character, be sure to inspect the new Chiss Inhabitants page for information on this enigmatic species.
- The Imperial Agents sleek starship is one of the most unique models in the galaxy. Check out the X-70B Phantom-Class Prototype in the starships section to get a tour.
- Last but not least, watch the new class gameplay video to get a look at the Agent in action
In a later update from Georg Zoeller the SWTOR Community gets further confirmation that Agents will be competent healers:
Agents and smugglers are equally capable on the healing front.

Posted 10/30/2010 7:18:48 PMin this case, the IA bombardment shown in the video is far superior visually (more of an explosion) with a more intense, fuller sound compared to the one on the holonet of the low level IA.
just thought i'd share that with you because personally, i think its friggin epic.

Posted 10/29/2010 8:08:27 PMNo sooner did Mr. Dover from Darth Hater, and Lady Carla from Corellian Radio publicly insist on Imperial Agent news did they predictably get it. And I must say; It's about bloody time, lol.
On another Agent note, however... Is it just me or didn't they already announce the Chiss as an Imperial Agent Species? If so, why advertise the "race" as though it were note-worthy news?
The Starship was no surprise to anyone either, of course, but it's nice of them to finally add it to the Website Garage at last, lol. Really, chuck all the ship up ffs. We all - and I mean, like, 90% of us - already know which ship goes to which class (Of the 6 Models released.) If I recall correctly, we are still suspicious and woeful in reflection of the concept in which both the Sith and Jedi sharing their respective 1 ship. I smell a sandbag in our semi-distant future.
Also, I'd really, REALLY rather they set up a navigator which would guide us exclusively to a "Race" page, or am I too old-fashion? Mixing potential mobs, NPCs, and available-to-play species' all to the same page just seems sloppy and half-azzed imho. No disrespect implied.
Lastly, too much and too often in the past do they rely on ambiguity and subterfuge on not only their official websites, but also in interviews, and their previous Convention Announcements that I'm afraid my near-infinite patience and curiosity is starting to wane. And I HATE to say that because deep down in the cockles of my geeky heart, I really want to see them succeed epically... But I've been watching their progress since November 7th of 2008 and I've noticed myself become evermore dispondant and jaded beneath the pressure of their "Just a taste" ethical standing with information.
In fact, I recall Ladies Kathy and Carla, of Corellian Radio, touching down on how the boys of Lucas Arts/Bioware seem to be hiding as much of the actual gameplay mechanics, options, interface, and the in-game world relationship with player characters with an admirable voraciousness that's more frustrating than anything. In short, those two lovely ladies agreed that L. A./Bioware are forcing our tunnel vision more directly toward story, character classes (Which I'm on board with to an extent), and lore.
Don't get me wrong, I love all those things, but I've just about had enough blah blah blah in regards to Story and Lore. I get it, Bioware is going to unleash a behemoth adventure upon us that we won't soon forget... But I want to know more about the ACTUAL in-game world mechanics and it's interface components.
Ed just saying.
