Dissection of the Crew Skills Video

With the release of the new Crew Skills video unsurprisingly comes the release of a new Darth Hater dissection. While not nearly as full of interesting oddities as previous tidbits, we still found some not-so-obvious reveals. As always, things revealed in previous dissections will not be included. Make sure to check back throughout the day as more will be added as we progress through the video.

What's that red symbol behind the bounty hunter at 0:25? Visible right after he uses the 'falcon punch'
Rancor wandering around in the background at 0:54, looks kind of small.
Skadge has a vibro sword, Mako has a blaster, but I don't see a weapon for 2V-R8. Is he a non-combat companion?
I love the classic ROTJ look of the speeder bike :D
Turning the lights off on them made me lol ;)

I think the symbol is an engine on a crashed ship in the background since it doesn't seem to move or anything. The rancor-looking thing is a Gundark, as I pointed out further down this page(with a link to its Inhabitants page). :P

Why are Gundarks being depicted with only 2 arms in SWTOR? They should have 4. Are they all newborns?
  • #35 Zerrak
You can see the second set of arms if you look closely while they're moving, right below the main arms, actually.

    I think that's it's beard you're seeing.

You can clearly see it only has 2 arms in the holonet: http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/inhabitants/gundark

Since it seems you can train in one skill from each category, does this mean that the bonus your crew mates may not comply with what you want to do? If so, will there be some sort of info bubble that shows up prior to you accepting a companion so you can try and focus your skills to fit the people on your ship?

Also, since you need to increase your companion's loyalty/romance with you, I can't wait to hear the stories coming out of these guys while you try and gain influence with them. I'm getting flashbacks of talking to Wrex and Canderous and hearing their war stories. I wonder if you can have a force user companion that can share some secret knowledge with your force using PC. That would be awesome.

"Thanks for the secrets of Force Management there Kreia, now get back to work on that new saber hilt schematic I brought back last week."

it was said on the forums that the bonus is very minor so like +5 not +25. They didn't want economics to be your sole choice in what companion you take with you.

Heres the specific quote,"If your crew can go treasure hunting, you can order any of your crew members to run treasure hunting missions. Vette may have a bonus to treasure hunting (being a native treasure hunter and all), but to be honest we currently have these bonuses set to be relatively mild - we don't want people to choose NOT to take their favorite companion out on the field with them because the economic bonus to keeping them on the ship is that much greater." - Damion Schubert

Also, you can mix and match the Gathering, Missions and Crafting any way you want EXCEPT that you can have at max. only 1 crafting. So, you can have 3 gathering, 0 mission, 0 crafting you want. ( IE: Great for an alt. Have him gathering stuff for your main. )

This brings up an interesting point. Since the crafting/gathering/missions are "automated" will we be allowed to be running them on a bunch of different characters on the same server? I would be leaning towards no only for the economy's sake. I would expect it to kind of play like EVE where you can have multiple characters under the same account but you can only be training skills on one at a time.
  • #125 abner_ford
I'd be cool with that. As you said, that keeps the economy in check and prevents gold farmers from just leveling a bunch of alts.

The quote you used about the Black Sun syndicate isn't really relevant or true to the TOR story line as it has already been established that the two big players are the Exchange and the Hutt Cartel.

They (BioWare) are probably establishing the Black Sun in the SW universe by giving it is roots. Fatal Alliance implied it was more of a 'gang' at this time. I reckon it sized power and replaced the Exchange after its downfall.

I really hope the Bounty Hunter will get the opportunity to work for the Exchange rather than its enemies, I loved the Exchange missions in KotOR 2.

I love the BH ship though, very Slave I, I hope nobody missed the man in carbonite in the cargo-hold!
