There are some inaccuracies in the initial reporting here, which could have happened for any number of reasons - but in the interest of calming speculation, there are a couple of things we wanted to address.

First, regarding PvP, so far we've been focusing on the instanced Warzones in our initial reveals, but that is not the only form of player vs player gameplay in The Old Republic. We'll have more to announce in time.

Second, regarding the Flesh Raiders, and mobs in general. In the build shown at the press event, we told the assembled press that one particular Flesh Raider model was being repeated in that build, but that the final game would have a variety of Flesh Raider models. In fact, you got a sneak peek at concept art for those models in last week's Studio Insider.

In addition, there are a number of different creatures, droids and enemies of various types on Tython (and on every world you'll be adventuring on). They're all over the world.

Third and finally, remember that this was a preview event focused on early gameplay. As Game Testing progresses, and as we conduct more press events, the continuing development of the game is going to be highlighted; changes are inevitable.

    Its just another example of things that don't really need to be stated, but are stated for the fools who are freaking out about every little thing, assuming the people being paid to make the biggest MMO to date have no experience playing MMOs or consuming the products of the Star Wars universe. I mean come on! Some people on the official forums swear like Bioware is going to make a game not even as good as SWG. They wouldn't make a new SW MMO if they couldn't make it better than the one already available.

    Shouldn't this be in the "Nothing to See Here, Move Along" section? Seriously, people should expect these kinds of things by now. First and foremost, trolls will be trolls (Official Forums people that start the fire), the internet will be the internet (Official Forums people that fan the flames) and stupid people will be stupid people (Gamestar and anyone taking their review seriously).
    This game is 6-8 months, at least, from release. All the ideas any of us have had, they've probably already run through the wringer and are either in the process of implementing, put on the back burner or discarded. They'll tell us all about when they're ready, just like most other companies have done in the past. The build that testers are playing right now will probably change multiple times before release and of course, for demonstration purposes, they're going to employ the K.I.S.S. method.
    Lastly, get off my lawn :p

    All sounds pretty good to me. Reviews are a rough guide only, one man's meat is another's poison... Besides which the internet is so beset with vested interests and social engineering I prefer to make up my own mind. Even a lack of definite release date is good, Bioware aren't being railroaded into pushing out a half finished game. Sounds like all concerned as intent on making a really quality MMO and aren't about to throw their money away making the errors a number of other companies have made.

    I've waited this long, I can wait some more...

    "I read the gamestar article yesterday and it really didn't sound good. The only thing they said was great was the voice over. They pretty much said:"

    * boring start
    * boring quests
    * boring trooper class
    * boring enemies (only 1 type)
    * stupid AI "

    You really think that is worrying? Ive come to learn that listening to what one dude thinks about something,
    is really just silly. If this was the trend from all the various reviews we had, then i'd might lift half an eyebrow.

    Besides, How can a storydriven "leveling" with pew pew lazerbeams be more boring then "kill 50 boars and collect 100 boar droppings".

    They are basing it on a build that was meant to be restricted for events. Its hard to make a proper judgment of anything if all your basing it on is a restricted build.

    Well to be fair, it is an MMO after all, they aren't revolutionizing the genre, the core gameplay mechanics will always be the same, they are just giving use a good reason to kill 10 rats or whatever.

    It's like what you come to expect from MMO's, is that you're out in the field killing stuff, escorting someone, or gathering, which will eventually lead you to a group quest or a dungeon.

    Same thing goes with other genres, they all have the same formula which extinguishes them from other genres, eg shooters, you walk down the corridor and you see some bad guys and you shoot the bad guys and continue to the next level. Adventure games have been following the same formula Mario Bro's had back in 83 NES days. Even though the formula is the same, does not mean it can be delivered differently, and what BioWare is focusing on at this point is the STORY, not button mashing dynasty warrior game or whatever some people are hoping for (Guild Wars 2?).

    And for some clarification, boring enemies, only one type; the game is at alpha stage, I'm sure there will be more variety out in release, but can't comment on the AI, other then don't expect them to be as good as in other shooters.

    I'm with you all the way. If it was only one review I wouldn't give a crap. But since it's the second review I've read that basically said the same thing (other on was 4players.de a pretty big german gaming site) I am starting to worry a little bit. What good is all the voice over in the world, when it basically always says "Go kill ten rats".
    I am hoping that they atleast get some variety into the leveling content. Especially since bioware pretty much said their goal is for us to level one character and then go level another one to experience another story.

    Overall they gave swtor a potential to be "good". There are two more steps above that ( very good/ excellent). Most games that get a potential rating of "good" end up getting a 70/100 review, which really isn't all that "good". I hope bioware takes this seriously. This is the second bad review I've read.

    How many great things have we heard from people though, who played earlier builds of this game (meaning less polish and less everything I would assume)? So if you've seen two bad reviews, at least one by a magazine that is paid to be critical then I think that is pretty good ratio.

    Even if the people screaming how good this game is are fanbois who were at PAX and Gamescon, that's okay because a majority of the people who end up playing this game will be fanbois and while I know fans are more sophisticated than ever and think themselves to be critics, I still like those chances.

    :)

    As far as Bioware taking it seriously, I'd think at this point in development... which is pretty much done at this point if we go back and look at the James Ohlen comment from this summer, then there isn't much they can change at this point other than polish and bugs. Content as far as story and what direction the story will lead is in is all but a done deal I would think.

    Just my two creds.

    There are multiple instances of Devs confirming Open World PVP on the forums. Check the "Information Gathered" sticky.

    Where is this bold statement made, link plz? Not saying they are not having world pvp is not the same thing as saying they will. Given their evasiveness, i might suggest that it will be in the game, but in some dissapointing and neutered form. But i wont, cos that would just sound petulant :D
