Friday Update: Trooper Dossier



For the Christmas Eve update, BioWare announced more updates for the Trooper class. Players can choose a member of the Zabrak species for their Trooper. The Troopers will fly a Rendili Hyperworks BT-7 Thunderclap which confirms our speculation about it in the Space Combat Video Dissection. The Weequay demolitions expert Tanno Vik joins the game as the Trooper Class Companion. Also included in the update was a revamp to the Trooper Class page which includes more information about the Advanced Classes of the Trooper. Most important for the Troopers out there is the class video (embed after the jump) along with the Dissection of it that we covered yesterday.     Why do the running animations in this game still look stiff and bizarre? It looks like the bottom half of the body is not connected to the top half it looks awkward. Come one BioWare this is basic stuff that needs to be fixed!

    I really wish that they would also implement a cover system for the trooper too. I mean why would a elite, highly-trained soldier not utilize cover? I don't even need a new set of skills for behind cover like these other classes, but just having the option and the ability would be great. I know in game you need to balance these beefy tank types with the frailer smuggler and agent, but just from a continuity standpoint it would make more sense, not to mention making the trooper even more epic haha.

    I recently noticed something on the trooper holonet page. During the animation sequence the trooper looks to fire a bolt of fire like the BH, but its blue and when looking at the device that appeared on her wrist it looks like a taser of some kind. This seems to be a mid range stun option to me at least. I did some hunting and haven't seen any info on this, but I could have missed something.

    Someone else probably already figured this out, but the terminal that you point out in screen shot 8 is probably a mission terminal. If you look at the crew skill vid you can see that the BH is standing at one as Mako gets back from her diplomacy mission. 2:00 in at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAnvNQ1Qx5g

    I also noticed that the screenshot released of completed weapons in the armstech dev blog http://www.swtor.com/news/blog/20101203 match the BH cargo bay as seen at 1:29 of the crew skill vid.

    I'm wondering if that's showing completed products waiting to be picked up, or if that's some kind of ship decoration you get to match your crew skill.

    I dunno if anyone else noticed this, but the starship looks simiilar to Anakin's ship in the Clone Wars series. Season 1, episode 2, 18, etc...

    In the second new Commando picture, what planet is he on? The cityscape doesn't look familiar. Is it possibly Corellia? I see a shuttle behind him, but that's irrelevant to which planet it is.

    Think I'll go down to my local apothecary and have him medically induce a coma. Bring me out of it one month before lunch. So I have to get snacks, drinkies, and rebuild lost muscle tissue.

    There seems to be a small room inbetween the Medical bay and the crew quarters. Is that room just part of the Bridge? it doesn't look like it to me, but i don't know what it might be. Bathroom?

    It's probably the armory, mentioned in the ship's description.
