Guild Headquarters Launch and System Page

After the Star Wars: The Old Republic Official Website came back from what appeared to be routine maintenance, fans were greeted with a new Guild Headquarters page under the Community tab and a new Game Systems page. In it you can create your own guild, which will have the ability to be transported right into the game at release. Or if you want to join an already existing guild, you may do so by searching guild names or member names, while having several different filters at your availability.

UPDATE: We received many inquiries regarding the details of Darth Hater's official guild and its status. Please note anything in the Guild Headquarters area should be considered placeholder and not representative of our guild in any shape or form. Darth Hater's official guild is indeed Sith focused and we will have a Republic outlet. We will make an announcement with details soon. On a side note the Guilds Game System page is detailed after the jump now as well.

Check the jump more details on guild creation, guild system, and for the Official DevTracker Post. Hat tip to Chrohno and Mentok on the heads up.
Creating your own guild involves first picking your allegiance of either Sith or Republic. PvP, PvE, and RP are all play styles from which you can select, from which you can select only one. You can choose English, French, German, or other for you guild language and assign it to either US East (Eastern Standard Time) time, US West (Pacific Standard Time), or Europe GMT. From there, select a suitable guild name and you are ready to add your guild to Star Wars: The Old Republic.

If you are interested in joining an existing guild, there are quick links at your disposal. Clicking on Republic, Empire, PvP, PvE, or RP will give you a filtered list. If you wish to narrow your search down, BioWare has made it possible to refine your search down to time zone, play style, allegiance or language. Before applying, make sure to fill in your Guild Application fields.

Perhaps lost in the shuffle for some SW:TOR fans in the hustle and bustle of the new Guild Headquarters launch yesterday, was the Guilds Game System page release under the Game Systems tab of the official site.

The page serves as a promotion to why you would want to join a guild and gives some examples:

Adventuring: Guild members generally join together to tackle group quests, Flashpoints, and raids. It helps to know your teammates in those big battles that require complex tactics.

Socializing: Guild chat gives you and your friends a private channel for communication, creating a lively in-game atmosphere as you play.

Getting Guidance: Being in a guild gives you access to a community of friends in game who can quickly answer your questions and help you make decisions as your character develops.

Competing: By working together, guildmates can become powerful teams in player versus player combat.

Earning Credits: Guildmates can coordinate to cover different crew skills, allowing guilds to maximize their knowledge and production.

Today, we're excited to announce the launch of the new Guild Headquarters (HQ) as well as the Pre-Launch Guild Program. Many members of the community have already been organizing guilds on the forums, and we're now happy to provide the tools to officially register and reserve your guild's name. In this new section of the website, you can search for an existing guild to join or you can create a new guild and begin recruiting members. When Star Wars: The Old Republic launches, you may be able to import your guild directly into the game, subject to availability and meeting certain criteria*.

Every guild gets its own guild mini-site on www.StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com, complete with information about the guild, its recruitment status, and its own public and private forums. Create or join a guild now and you'll have the opportunity to have your own space to socialize and organize before the game launches. Every guild is automatically entered into the searchable guild database, which makes it easy for players to find their ideal guild. Get your guild together early and get ready for The Old Republic!

To learn more about guilds in The Old Republic, check out the Guilds Game System page for details, and to search for or join a guild, visit the Guild HQ now! Also be sure to visit the Guilds FAQ for answers to commonly asked questions.

Here's the link to the guild Ouranos was referring to.

It's Empire so I'm out, but it's neat to have a presence.

This is incredibly awesome, and could help immensely with Sever Populations and Balance. However, I can also see some problems where you don't get the same server as an alliance guild that you perhaps wanted on with.

Sure, you can still join the server you want and just create a different guild...but your name is likely gone at that point.

So, pros and cons. We shall see how well exactly it works out.

phase 2 will let you set allies and adversaries and they will try to add them all on the same server
  • #63 zechio
Yes, and they made it clear it is not a guarantee. You can also only have 3 guilds added. Hence the possibility for problems still.

I can guarantee there will be problems, with all new things, and with all MMO launches. Hopefully people keep this in mind, and don't go TOO crazy when things don't go flawless....and hopefully the pros will end up outweighing the cons. If it goes well enough, this could be exactly the thing MMO launches need to help iron out many problems.

An Alliance guild? Get out of that WoW gutter! :P

Those crafty European players are snatching up the best Guild names quickly. Get on the ball NA players!

Now I just need to find a Sith RP guild that will accept a Juggernaut who wants to watch ALL the damned cut scenes

Hey Kevin, I thought I'd suggest Bane guild. We are an international Sith-themed guild that only accepts members above age 18. We will be playing on the east-coast RP server as a compromise between our european members and our west-coast members. We're all star-wars fans, but we only RP occasionally at events, not every day.

In addition to events like raid night or PVP tournaments, I also occasionally make music videos about what is going on with the guild like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXifrGZifPk

Also, does anyone else think the names of most of these guilds are HORRIBLE...good GAWD

I can't even find a Republic PVP guild with a name I can even deal with!

Don't complain -- it's very useful info for you. Can weed out all the lamers. ;)

Under the description of phase 1of guild development It says :

"On a PvP server, players may be attacked by other players from the opposing faction in MORE areas of the game world."

Whilst I know open world PvP has already been confirmed, it's nice to see the writer clearly had it in mind that there would be areas on all server types where you'll be flagged for PvP.
  • #72 Jecalips
More areas comment could refer to battle grounds for the pve servers.

I tried entering: Followers of Plagueis
but just got: Your guild name contains restricted words.

Thinking mabe mabe this is someone that might pop up? Darth Plagueis was mentioned in episode 3 Rots. and thats why i cant have it. there where no other guild names with that name. so it could not have been that.

    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Darth_Plagueis

Anyone ells thinking the same? He was mentioned by darth sidious " emperor in the films" that he was the strongest of the sith.
Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise, he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create life "anakin skywalker?". He had such a knowledge of the dark side, he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying."
