Darth Hater at PAX East 2011

Darth Hater is back at PAX in full force with our in-depth coverage of everything related to Star Wars: The Old Republic. If you are attending, then please note the community meetup is Friday, March 11 beginning at 7 PM, at the Times Irish Bar. Remember to look for the Darth Hater shirts to identify the team on the show floor and all other events throughout the convention. If you manage to get your hands on the game in any of the sessions, please share your commentary and thoughts with the rest of the Hater community on our official thread.

Did anyone else notice that Jory's VO has changed?

It irks me that the two "gaming media" coverages linked above got the name of the instance wrong, even after the articles were posted after the Dev walkthrough went up on the official site. My other complaint is that Taral V was compared to the forest moon of Endor.... while I read this, I just felt like punching the dude in the head for failing Geography. A rain forest/jungle (with loads of lightning) =/= a temperate forest with a bunch of underdeveloped bears living on it. Nuh uh, ain't ever going to happen.

Only had to wait three hours or so. Played a Miraluka Jedi Consular who had a scarred face and a scraps of cloth for a blindfold, but a Zabrak NPC did call me cute... The guy next to me accidentally pressed "character creation" instead of "play game," though I didn't look fast enough to see what other race options there were before they shut it down... Looking forward to getting up before sunrise on Sunday to go back again!

Any chance you got a screenshot of the Miraluka JC? A bunch of us would love to get this confirmed.

Nice to hear such positive things from all of the people who are getting to play the game. I am yet to read anything bad about the gameplay from those who have played at PAX

Tiring event but the best experiance of my life!

Arrived at 7am and went straight towards the bioware line for SWTOR, but the meet and greet passes were already sold out. Ran into Pete from Darth Hater in the line for Taral 5 around 11, Saw some other members of darth hater who I never got their names, shook two of their hands, saw TROCAST, Ask A Jedi, Met the Guild master of Jen'Jedi when I got in the line to play the SI. They began turning people back around 4:00 because the demand to play the game was escessive, and they had the biggest booth at the convention. This is a testimony to the excitement that fans have for SWTOR. ((Bioware also gave out malgus poster swag to the lineees))

If anyone goes tomorrow here is a warning, I only played SWTOR 2x during the event but after each play session i got back in line, my 1st playthrough was 45 minuites on Taral V, around 10 (got a nifty empire shirt) 2nd playthrough was at 4:30 grouped on the 4 class stations with another Sith who was playing the warrior class.

Missed the space combat presentation due to being on the other side of the booth where the screens were to watch other players play. but i'll watch the Darth Hater recording (Big camera guys) later

I'll post my impressions on Taral V and the SI tomorrow, suffice to say they were both awesome and appealed to the WOW player next to me and me, a fan of Dragon Age/KOTOR.

    SWTOR Character Names:

The Bastion:: Gurion (Lvl 50 LS Sith Juggernaught), Adomin (LVL 44 DS Sentinel), Achinoam (Lvl 11 Grey Consular), Tzahala (LVL 14 DS Trooper),Juliraus (LVL 9 Grey/Dark BH)

Just finished the flashpoint after a 5.5 hour wait and it was totally worth it!!! I've seen the DH guys getting interviews, so I can't wait to read and see what I missed while slowly dying in that line. My group technically beat the boss, but we weren't rewarded because the bosses companion glitched:/ Oh well at least I got a t-shirt for playing:)

I am listening to Tor-talk's podcast about what has happened at PAX so far and they are reporting that Stephen Reid said that Spring is still the target window for release but that the window is open for longer if they need it. Can anybody at Darth Hater confirm this. It is weird that Tor Talk is the only group reporting this.
  • #50 Evel
I am sure they are twisting his words because he admitted again this morning that the target window is 2011 - not Spring 2011. Sure "Spring" is included in 2011, but it is no longer the target window.
  • #51 waldo42
I'd like to hear some clarification/insight from DH as well, because this has been the impression I've had all along. Spring is ideal, FY12/Calender '11 is guaranteed.
  • #52 Evel
You may want to re-listen because even the people over at TOR-Talk posted on the SW:TOR forums clarifying that it is 2011 - nothing about Spring.

The "PAX East: Hands On Gameplay Training iPad Presentation" DH page seems all messed up. Getting error and mixing posts with different users.
