Friday Update: Jedi Knight Progression Video

Today's Friday update is all about Jedi Character Progression, as it details both skills and gear in a video. The trailer demonstrates how both the Jedi Knight's Advanced Classes perform, and we get a good look at single saber Guardian moves and double-saber Sentinel action.

The Dev Tracker post and a small working dissection is available after the jump. We say small because Sado is busy at Miami's Ultra seeing some kind of dead mouse perform (we're all jealous), and he'll yell at us for whatever we point out when he gets back.

As you progress in Star Wars: The Old Republic, your character grows more powerful, gains experience, discovers new skills, and acquires more advanced gear.

In this video, you'll get a sneak peek at how the Jedi Knight can evolve in The Old Republic. This is just a small sampling of the armors and skills available, but we hope this gives you a taste of how the Jedi Knight will look as he develops through the course of the game.

So not sure if anyone else mentioned it or not but image 3 with the Jedi taunt.....just me or is this just paying tribute to the original SW Episode IV poster with Luke holding the lighsaber.

Definitely not just you. I noticed that homage too and I think it's a really great way to honor the first movie of the epic story that is Star Wars.

Yep, also saw that and loved the hell out of that bit of animation! You could say it references the old Return of the Jedi poster with the two hands holding the saber as well.

There are 2 separate scenes where we get to see new/different logos on shoulders of NPCs!

Saw Sado walking around in his DH shirt at Ultra but couldn't grab him to say hi... Wasn't sure who it was but it was kind of funny seeing the DH shirt there.

The Jedi Knight bears a heavy resemblance to Paul S. Kemp. If that was intended, then I'll have plenty of hours of fooling around with facial customization options to look forward to. :)

This looks great. Now, if you could only let me know when I will be able to play this, I'd be able to decide how long my RIFT subscription needs to be. Any date is fine. Take as long as you need to make it good. Just let me know. Is it really that hard to work out?! Oh, and I like pizza. That's important in my world. Rant over.

Sux that it had to be jedi knight.. It got alot of show time at pax... show some SI already

Idk I think Im getting tired of this chase the carrot on the stick heres another video oo look how we do our job this week. Blah Why cant they just buckle down an finish the game already an stop with these (imo) worthless updates on friday. Just egging on a game that is getting the feel of yesterdays game
  • #98 stoffi
If they are so worthless, why bother following them, in fact, why do you even have an account on a fansite which specializes in these updates lol
  • #101 abner_ford
Yeah, I don't get people like that. He also doesn't understand that if they suddenly stopped doing these updates, the forums would explode with, "MORE INFO WTF BIOWAREZ!?"
  • #102 DarthShnooky
If you're really so offended by these updates, just stop reading them. You could just not go to the site each Friday and wait for the game to release without any new information. No one is forcing you to read this stuff or watch the videos.

Considering these are probably worked out by the marketing dept. at Bioware, rather than the artists and developers making the game, it's not like these updates are taking away from resourced needed to finish the game.

Is it just me or does it look like the Jedi Knight is at an I/O station connecting with Allen1?

Something on a more serious note, looking back at the Dev walkthrough of the BH and SW the amount of polish and fluidity is amazing in comparison and I would have been happy with the old build. Thanks again for the dissection DH
