Friday Update: Jedi Knight Progression Video

Today's Friday update is all about Jedi Character Progression, as it details both skills and gear in a video. The trailer demonstrates how both the Jedi Knight's Advanced Classes perform, and we get a good look at single saber Guardian moves and double-saber Sentinel action.

The Dev Tracker post and a small working dissection is available after the jump. We say small because Sado is busy at Miami's Ultra seeing some kind of dead mouse perform (we're all jealous), and he'll yell at us for whatever we point out when he gets back.

As you progress in Star Wars: The Old Republic, your character grows more powerful, gains experience, discovers new skills, and acquires more advanced gear.

In this video, you'll get a sneak peek at how the Jedi Knight can evolve in The Old Republic. This is just a small sampling of the armors and skills available, but we hope this gives you a taste of how the Jedi Knight will look as he develops through the course of the game.

He is probably going to wonder for a long time what went flying down with that sith's body.

Love the video. Since I want to play a Jedi guardian seeing the armor progession but the Jedi sentenial looks just as cool. It's awesome!

The Sentinel is looking awesome, but the second armor of the Guardian is a bit over the top imo.

Still, I have no desire to play a Knight. It's about the last class I would play atm.

Nice to see some lightsaber variations as well :)

Myself, I'm a pretty big fan of the last Guardian armor. Stuff like that is one of the few things that makes the game feel like it's in a completely different era.

I agree with Elkesai. I like the 2nd Guardian outfit that is shown in the video. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the SI's getups mostly though. I like the Old Republic flavor.

They're doing a really good job with that, I agree. Actual suits of armor never appeared in other games, really, except if you count Darth Vader.

I loaded the videos onto my iPad and watch them constantly. This has been a great Friday Feature. Thank you so much BioWare.

Ok I found the clip I posted about before, he doesn't rolll off, but he does fall off the bridge. Not sure if it was just lucky placement or what, as far as other games ive played, when you kill a mob on the edge of the bride, they usually just die and hang over the ledge.

If you all want to see for yourself this is the link, its at 11:14 the fall. But yea either way I think my previous post was wrong, the sith falling over the railing prolly is just a cinematic.

Couldn't find who else mentioned it here, but I think the sith falling over might have been more than just a cinematic thing. For the life of me I cant remember which one out of the numerous Taral V videos from pax, but I remember seeing one of those big mobs actually falling off the bridge after dying,

I remember it looking like it rolled off, this video reminded me of it. At the time I wasnt sure and thought maybe my mind was playing tricks, but if this is the case then dam, nice detail work. I really wanna go back and double check, but dam theres a lot of vids from pax lol!

I like how the different armors clearly establish who's a guardian and who's a sentinel.

Maybe, or maybe not. In "Designing the light side" trailer, at 5:00 theres an old jedi getting out of the ship whos wearing the same set as the sentinel (the white robe, I love it) but he only wears one lightsaber. Should he be a guardian? Maybe a sentinel could have only one lightsaber also?

    Mmmmm...

Good points, but I think that old Jedi was an NPC, which would give BioWare a little more flexibility with the character design since they wouldn't have to worry about balance. Either way, they have confirmed that they've implemented a single-saber DPS path. I don't know if that's in the Sentinel tree or the Guardian tree though.

    Guardian AC has a single-saber DPS tree/sub

Ive got a question>? in the video it shows him piecing together his lightsaber which is badass, i was wondering if lore wise are the sith that delicate with their lightsaber. I mean Jedis believe that its apart of them that they are one with the blade... are the sith the same way? sorry if this is off topic i just figured if anyone knew it would be people who visit the DH website

On the majority, I would say that the Sith are NOT that delicate with their lightsaber. On the one hand, I'm inclined to believe that they don't fashion their own. I would sooner believe that they take it from their conquered foe. That seems more in line with the Sith ideology, but I could be wrong. On the other hand, if people have researched into the Sith sabersmithing techniques, I'd really like to hear them.
