BioWare's Stephen Reid announced via his personal Twitter that Star Wars: The Old Republic news from the UK is forthcoming:

For those UK #SWTOR fans who asked - no specific time to check Forums, but after 5pm UK time is a safe bet (thanks to timezones).

On Tuesday, April 5th at gamerbase, inside HMV at the Trocadero (near Piccadilly Circus, London) we'll be doing a ONE NIGHT ONLY community event where a limited number of Forum members will be able to play Star Wars: The Old Republic!

Entrance is free, but INVITES ARE STRICTLY LIMITED on a first-come, first-serve basis.

    The update will happen first of April.... April Fools' Day is celebrated in the Western world on the 1st of April of every year besides that remeber last year and sarlacc pit

    As I expected apart from I thought they might bring the Taral V demo.

    I could go but I guess I must be one of the few people who doesn't want the stories spoiled and it's not like the game is years away anymore.

    I fully expect someone to reply to this with story spoilers :P

    Why oh why couldn't they have done it this week when I'm on leave?!?! I live in Cornwall but it would've been worth the 4 hour drive each way.

    sooo BW, you're telling me that for EVERYONE who is not playing the game, even those in london at this event, are getting no new footage? what a great event...

    It's something for people in the UK (London specifically) to get their hands on the game and play it. I *think* that's a little better than watching some new footage. People in Germany and the US have had chances to play, now it's the UK's turn. What are you complaining about?

    I'm not complaining about the event, I'm complaining how it's being handled with photography. if no gameplay footage can be taken then 99.99% of TOR fans are unaffected by this event. if I were a brit and events going on in US where no footage could be taken, again I'd complain as the event caters to a very very small minority of fans

    It's not new footage, so what do you need to see? It seems like it's pretty much just a chance for a few more people to get their hands on the game at an event. They could've just, y'know, not done it, and no one would be any worse off . Instead they're going to hook up a few booths and let some lucky British folk get their hands on it.

    I could see complaining if they're getting some brand new reveal, then it would be pretty bad PR to not let any footage of it get taken. But that's not the case.

    abner_ford summed it up pretty well...this is not an event for the whole of the SW:TOR community. This is specifically an event for those local to London. We're very sorry that this doesn't extend beyond London, but the choice for us was between "None of the fans get to play" and "Some of the fans get to play." I think you can guess which one we decided to go with. :)
