The bracket immediately lost all credibility for me when i saw Mojang beat Nintendo in the first round. Are you kidding me? Minecraft is all well and good, but it's not even at release yet and people are trying to say they are a better developer than the company that brought us Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Starfox, F-Zero, Donkey Kong, Kid Icarus, etc. Unless this is only meant to measure the releases of developers in this year, in which case it still shouldn't count since Minecraft is yet to have a release build.

And if we're going off future releases, then Bioware should win hands down with both Mass Effect 3 and Old Republic coming out this year -- in addition to Dragon Age 2 already.

It shows the fanbase for minecraft is more involved with the escapist than the Nintendo fanbase.

To be honest, Bioware has brought mostly disappointment this year.

Of course, they're up against a studio that hasn't actually released *anything*...

If Lucas Arts was making more Dark Forces and Monkey Island games and less Force Unleashed I think they could have beaten Bungie.

As it stands they haven't released a good game in some time. Rogue Squadron and KOTOR were the last one of note I can remember, and those are 8 years old now.

That is an impressive final 4 though, I am surprised Mojang AB being there since they have no released games yet. People must really love their Minecraft Beta.

Keep in mind that Rogue Squadron was largely developed by Factor 5 and KotOR was developed by Bioware and published by Lucasarts. It's been even longer than you think since LA developed a decent game.

Republic Commando was pretty epic imho
  • #15 Vanlan
Commando was pretty good. I liked the group mechanics, but it lacked the epic feel for me simply because the story didn't feel that important. It wasn't an original story line, and you just can't emotionally invest in a clone in the same way you can a unique creature. I felt more for HK-47 than Delta Squad. If they went with something unique and important then I would agree with you more.

Even then Republic Commando is 6 years old. All they do now is release lego games and destroy pre-established canon.

The Lego games are awesome! But not developed by Lucasarts, just published. I'm pretty sure the current head of LA has said they don't intend on developing games for awhile, just doing publishing since it is cheaper for them. Which pretty well sucks. At least they were smart enough to trust Bioware with the new MMO after what Sony did to the last one.
