During at the Fan Site Summit, BioWare fielded questions from the Fan Site Community in attendance. The question and answer sessions covered a range of topics relevant to the developer answering questions at the time. After the session concluded and the summit ended, BioWare made the audio of the sessions available to fan sites. As such, the sessions are available via links below. A transcription of the sessions will follow soon.
Are you still going to give us transcriptions of these interviews? I can barely hear a thing from the Writer's Q&A & would love to at least see a transcription of that.
Nevermind, maybe there's no point since I'm sure you guys here at DH know that TORWARS beat you to typing up transcripts for all of the Q&A's except the one from the Writers with the really low recorded audio. I'd still love to see a transcript for that one DarthHater, if you can pull it off.
Loving some of the things I'm hearing. These are absolutely fantastic, thanks to all who attended and asked great questions.
I love their approach to difficulty and courage to make the game challenging. I would so much rather yell and scream at this game for wiping my group 7 times than beat every quest on the first try.
Very interesting the way they're running the "4 man" groups with companions counting as players. It sounds like this applies everywhere in game, not just in flashpoints, please correct me if I'm wrong.
At this point I'm very curious if we can build raid sized groups while exploring the open world. I love my companion characters (as a huge fan of Bioware's RPGs), but I also like to roll around with a group of anywhere from 2-8 members depending on the night.
Did you all see anything that suggests we can build groups larger than 4 easily when out in the open world? If so, how did this affect quest completion?
"I love their approach to difficulty and courage to make the game challenging."
I gotta say, I really REALLY hope that doesn't change through testing or the loud minority. Having a challenging game with an awesome story is about as good as it gets.
Between a good challenge and getting sucked into the experience, the sense of accomplishment really skyrockets.
Well done! As easy as it would have been to treat this as a vacation getaway, the work on the website today shows that in reality it was a well-blended mix of business and pleasure. Thanks guys.
This was so great! I'm extremely glad they are paying attention to dedicated craftsmen. I am very very excited to see what rewards will be in store. I'm also glad Kathy asked about gear rewards for "grey" alignment. I had that exact question floating in my head when alignment-specific gear was mentioned. Dover was also on point as usual, great job! What a fun game this is going to be.
I still cling to hope! I understand what you mean, it does seem further from where we'd like to think it is. But I think they iterate quickly, test in very appropriately-focused segments, and have a clear desire to get it in our hands as quickly as possible.
That, and my experience with most MMOs is that the final stages of development/polish seem to ramp up in speed and quantity of changes exponentially.
And -- pending any slips in the release window (please no!) -- I can handle knowing it's no more than 7 months away. In this hope-clinger's opinion, closer still.
I'd love to be proven wrong and I think about 6 months too but there's always the possibility of unforseen problems making it even longer and also as a UK player there might be a gap between NA and UK launch.
Far enough away that I'm due a little internal dialogue about the daily forum lurking before I go wasting an entire summer on it :P
Maybe time for me to dial it back to just Friday updates at least until E3.
Doubtful. They've said to never pay attention to the specifics of any examples they give. They have to think on their toes, and usually are not allowed to say something specific from the game, unless it has been shown already.
The point you were supposed to get from that, was that you won't find them sitting on the road to Kaas city. You're going to have to go out of your way, look around, and even after finding it, you gotta put some effort in to get to it.

Posted 4/29/2011 12:35:07 AMI read elsewhere that even Pazaak probably won't make launch.
They seem to know what they're doing but all indications are that it'll be a while, which is not a huge surprise but sometimes you cling to hope :P
