Revan Novel Synopsis Revealed

In what may seem an obvious way of getting information about a pre-release Star Wars: The Old Republic book, Random House made the synopsis of the upcoming Drew Karpyshyn Revan novel available for readers anticipating its release.

Theres something out there:
a juggernaut of evil bearing down to crush the Republic --
unless one lone Jedi, shunned and reviled, can stop it.

Revan: hero, traitor, conqueror, villain, savior. A Jedi who left Coruscant to defeat Mandalorians and returned a disciple of the dark side, bent on destroying the Republic. The Jedi Council gave Revan his life back, but the price of redemption was high. His memories have been erased. All thats left are nightmares and deep, abiding fear.

What exactly happened beyond the Outer Rim? Revan can't quite remember, yet cant entirely forget. Somehow he stumbled across a terrible secret that threatens the very existence of the Republic. With no idea what it is, or how to stop it, Revan may very well fail, for hes never faced a more powerful and diabolic enemy. But only death can stop him from trying.

The Random House listing contains the synopsis above as well as other important details pertaining to the book. Pre-orders are available via Amazon and Random House should you be interested in picking up the novel later this year. Revan by Drew Karpyshyn hits store shelves on November 15, 2011.

Can't wait for this book. Revan is one of my favorite characters in Star Wars. Only thing is it comes out a few days after Skyrim. T.T conflicting!

In the first sentence of the second paragraph of the quote: "Mandaloriansand" should read "Mandalorians and ".
    Good spy work sado ;)

Sounds good. The real question is did emlaeh get her hands on a Revan mask yet?

I hope that the Jedi Exile is given her fare share of the credit for her achievements in the novel, all I've hard so far seems to suggest that Revan will get the credit for what the Exile did (or it will be ignored) - like in the timeline videos, were they completely ignored how Darths Sion, Nihlius and Treya were defeated by the Exile, how the Sith that Revan created were ultimately destroyed by the Exile - it also gave Revan the credit for using the Mass Shadow Generator, when that was the Exile.

"unless one lone Jedi, shunned and reviled, can stop it" - sounds like its a continuing trend, did the Exile not follow Revan into the unknown regions? and likewise never return?

Which timeline? That seemed to have sneaked past my radar.

Oh well, I have to say I didn't care much for Kotor 2. Obsidian shipped an unfinished game; It wasn't nearly as polished as the first one.

Drew has said the Exile will turn up in the book, I believe it spans a significant amount of time including the time in which KotOR II is set. As such we may get to see some of the aftermath of that game, what happened to the Exile and such.

Most of the events of KotOR2 were unknown to the galaxy at large, including the Sith Triumvirate and the Exile's deeds. That's why it's being ignored. The timeline videos are done from an in-universe perspective, where most people wouldn't know every little thing that happened in KotOR2. Even the events of KotOR are being told in large brush strokes, not mentioning the little things through the game.

I find that a petty excuse, especally since they said that allot of the Exile's story will be touched upon in TOR. Carth Onasi and Bastila Shan knew what happened - in fact Carth was leading the fleet that engaged the Sith Triumvirate when the Exile borded the Ravenger and killed Darth Nihlus. According to Darth Treya's predictions of the future those the Exile trained 'the Lost Jedi' would go onto refound the Jedi Order - atleast 2 would be on the new Jedi Council - the Handmaden and the Dispiple would even try Atris for her crimes - and Treya's predictions were correct enough that she could see the melena long death of the Mandalorians that fell with one man being killed by a Jedi (Jango Fett).

The errors that they've made in the timeline videos are quite regular and to their own admitance. Making a mistake about who used the Mass Shadow generator was big enough, but quite another was showing Revan to stand at several inches taller than Darth Malak who in every other apperance has towered above everyone. They have owned up to these mistakes i'll add.

They should make him fall to the dark side. Jedis winning all the time is boring. -.-
  • #3 Baelor
He did fall to the dark side, prior to the events of KoTOR.

I am the light that brings the dawn.

Then they made the Jedi win by erasing his memories and Revan saves the day. In isn't really the same person after memory wipe so post-memory wipe Revan sucks his own balls. All his accomplishments are that of another person so hopefully this book ends with him getting thoroughly owned or returning to the dark side.

It was the story of his redemption. Revan is basically BioWare's biggest tale of redemption, and Star Wars' biggest one this side of Darth Vader.
