E3 2011: First Look at Razer SWTOR Peripherals

Just moments ago we were able get our first look at the series or Razer peripherals designed specifically for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Unfortunately, we were unable to get our hands on the devices themselves, but the product managers from Razer took some time to give us the full rundown on the products.

Update: Apparently some people are interpreting a comment in this interview as a mention of a release date. This is extremely incorrect, and the question was phrased to see if the branded accessories would come out before the game's release, coinciding with it, after, etc. Any employee of Razer is a fan just as much as you are, and they do not work for BioWare.

Hit the jump for a few interesting bullet points about the official SWTOR mouse, mouse pad, headset, and keyboard.
Keyboard
  • There are ten LCD buttons that can be programed to perform a variety of functions in game. Users will be able to assign each key with an image of their choosing (or use art provided by Razer and BioWare) then assign complex macros using a visual macro program being designed by Razer. These macros can be simple or complex and can use timer commands between action commands.

  • These LCD buttons can be tiered. This means a button can be programmed to switch any of the other nine buttons.

  • The keyboard has a multi-touch screen under the LCD buttons that can apparently be used in lieu of a mouse if need be.

  • The keyboard is lined with led lights that can be set to any color.

Mouse
  • It is basically a reskin of the Razer Naga.

  • The icon on the mouse can be Republic or Sith depending on which plastic piece you attach.

Mouse Pad
  • Metal pad that can be flipped to display the icon of either faction

Headset
  • The headset icons can be switched to either Sith or Republic.

  • There are LED lights on the bottom of the headset that change color. This color can be seen by the user's peripheral vision.

  • Headset will utilize alerts supported by BioWare. As an example, the representative from Razer said the light could pulse or change color to subtly notify players of nearby enemies.

Release

Alongside The Old Republic. They said, "when BioWare tells us TOR is coming out, that is when these are coming out."

Sadly I am a lefty, I prefer my bind keys to my left hand mouse on right :(

I'm right handed, and I still prefer wasd to move, 1,2,3,4 etc for my keybinds.

As a leftie I have to pass on both mouse and keyboard as well.

I would have seriously considered to get at least the keyboard, but since the buttons are on the wrong side for a leftie.... no thanks.

It still amazes me that in all those years razor only managed to come up with one neutral mouse... I am not even talking about an ergonomic left hand mouse... despite the fact that lefties are growing in numbers and soon should statistically reach 50% of humanity.

So I am definitely sticking to my old and trusted Lachesis.

The stuff looks cool, but after what happened with my G15 I don't know. The G15 has an LCD screen that was compatible with WOW, showed stuff like your character stats, ammo, space available, etc. Then WOW did an update and it never worked again. Would hate to drop that kind of money and then TOR does an update and the expensive little touches are just worthless later.

    $200 for a non-mechanical keyboard? No thanks.

I'd probably nab the mouse and maybe the mousepad.

aw your crazy. The keyboard is the one things that actually seems super cool. A mouse is a mouse whether it has an Imperial symbol on it or not, but those keys that visually change and an awesome touch pad like that. Now that's cool. $200 is a bit much, but its pretty cool looking.

the keyboard is just pathetic. Pass.

Oh sweet! An official product tie in, it's a keyboard that allows you to do macros for the game, where they have chosen to not do macros. Instead of using the free system that should have been included in game, I can drop a few hundred dollars instead! And because it's just a keyboard that does macros, I STILL won't be able to do mouseover healing! Oh boy!

    /sarcasm.

Hey I know these are expensive, but I found this website based out of Eastern Europe thats buying kidney's for a couple thousand American, only thing is you can't have hepatitis A, B or C. I spoke with an operator and they have some offices throughout the states and I was told if I go in for surgery now they can have me out in a few weeks. Seems more legit than the place I bought those Krogan parts from, check it out.

Are they White? or are they Silver?

But the Keyboard looks amazing... the led keys and the touchpad look amazing, but I wonder if the game will have any cool features that would work for that pad.

Love the mouse. Wish the 10-key and LCD was on the left side of the keyboard and I'd be sold.
