Exclusive reveals, giveaways, guests, and Q&A!

Stephen Reid informed attendees via Twitter on July 6 where BioWares booth will be at the event:

If you're looking at the #SDCC map, we're on booth #2913 as part of the LucasFilm pavilion. (Yes, we're still outside the show too.)

For those without Comic-Con tickets, BioWare will hold an event at the Hilton Gaslamp hotel. To hear more about how fans can get their hands on the game outside of Comic-Con, read David Bass' statement on DevTracker.

SDCC is Thursday, July 21 through Sunday, July 24, and as always, Darth Hater will be there to bring you all the details as they happen.

Thanks Xavier for the tip

Update: BioWare Senior Community Coordinator David Bass explains the BioWare Base fan event in more detail -

David Bass
I've been getting a bunch of questions along the lines of "What night is the Hilton event?" To be clear, BioWare Base (as we've been calling it) will be open every day of Comic-Con at the Hilton, it's not a "one-night party." We're still potentially planning special events for a night or two (and you may want to follow the BioWare Social Network thread as well for updates), but in general, you can come by the Hilton any day from July 21-24 to say hi and/or get in line to play the game. More details soon!

Update 2: Saturday's Comic-Con panel details are now available and include a panel on Star Wars: The Old Republic

Star Wars: The Old Republic and Mass Effect are creations of one of the most distinguished developers in video games -- BioWare! Join Star Wars: The Old Republic senior writer Alexander Freed, Mass Effect 3 lead writer Mac Walters, Mass Effect comics scripter John Jackson Miller, Dark Horse editor Dave Marshall, and a cast of celebrities, as BioWare and Dark Horse announce their next collaboration and reveal exclusive details about the games and comics they're working on. David Bass details the various opportunities players will have to play SWTOR at SDCC including for those who are unable to attend the main event.

Hey folks,

In addition to our playable demos at the Comic-Con show floor and at BioWare Base at the Hilton Gaslamp, we're also excited to give some of you the opportunity for an extended play session on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night at the Hilton. We've got a limited number of sessions each night to allow for selected fans to play through the first hour of either the Esseles or Black Talon flashpoints. In order to do this in the most fair manner, we're going to do a random selection from those who RSVP to this event. Here's how it will work:
  • On Tuesday, July 12th, we'll make a post on the forums with instructions for how to RSVP. You'll have exactly 24 hours from that post-time to follow the instructions and email us if you'd like to be considered for an invite. Note that you must be in San Diego during Comic-Con in order to play, so please don't RSVP if you can't make it to San Diego.

  • On Wednesday, July 13th, we'll close invites off, and over the next day we'll randomly select players from those who RSVP'd. Those people will be contacted, and will have a day to confirm their date/time for a play session.

  • On Friday, July 15th, any remaining open spots will be randomly offered to the remaining pool of applicants.

Note that this thread is NOT for you to RSVP in, and doing so will not affect your chances of being randomly selected. We just wanted to give you a few days' warning so that you were ready for this week's plans. Good luck!

Update 3: David Bass updates the community on the final details on how to RSVP to play SWTOR in San Diego.

David Bass
Hi all!

As mentioned on Sunday, we've got a limited number of play sessions during several nights of Comic-Con to allow for select fans to play through the first hour of either the Esseles or Black Talon Flashpoints.

Two sessions will be held each night, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (July 21-23), one at 7PM, and one at 8PM. Each session will accommodate several groups of players for each Flashpoint. If you're going to be in San Diego next week, and you wish to RSVP for a chance to play, please follow the directions below exactly and in their entirety.

Photo ID will be required for entry. Please note that incomplete RSVP emails WILL NOT be considered for invites. We cannot guarantee your first choice of play time or Flashpoint.
  • Gather the following information:
    - Full name (as shown on your ID)
    - Preferred Night: Thursday, Friday, or Saturday
    - Preferred Time: 7PM or 8PM
    - Preferred Flashpoint: Esseles (Republic) or Black Talon (Empire)

  • Email all of the above info to events@swtor.com with the subject line: "RSVP for Flashpoint Gameplay at Comic-Con"

Please note that anyone who wishes to play must send their own RSVP, and invites are non-transferable. Feel free to ask any questions you have below, but do NOT RSVP in this thread!

David Bass also reminds fans that the deadline to RSVP is 10 AM Wednesday.

Update 4: Drew Karpyshyn updates fans on his appearance at Comic-Con.

Friday July 22
2pm-3pm - I'm part of a writer's panel at the BioWare Base
4pm-5pm - I'll be signing books, games, posters, etc at the BioWare Base (and we may have a few free copies of some of my novels to hand out)

Saturday July 23
12pm-1pm - I'll be signing books at the Random House booth (again, hoping to have some free copies to give away)
2pm-3pm - I'm part of a writer's panel at the BioWare Base
4pm-5pm - Another signing at the BioWare Base
7:30pm-10pm - Community Meet and Greet at the BioWare Base

I'll also be spending some time working the BioWare Base, helping with crowd control and lines as we expect HUGE numbers of people to come by to see and play the game. If you see me there say hi, but if I'm working I might not have time to sign stuff. Nothing personal.
