We had an incredible experience at this year's GamesCom, with Star Wars: The Old Republic winning the 2011 GamesCom Award for Best Online Game as well as being a huge hit with everyone that attended! The air was electric from the excitement as fans and journalists filed through our booth to get some hands-on time with both Origin Worlds and Alderaan Warzone PvP! The reaction from the fans at the show left us feeling incredibly grateful for having such a passionate and dedicated community.

Knowing that not everyone could make it to Cologne for the show, we wanted to share our experience with all of you. Thank you for all of your continued support and enthusiasm for the game!

Ok, it's September and they're doing the beta weekends, but what about those that pre-ordered the CE and supposed to get early access? When does that happen?

Good thing I wasn't expecting anything at all, because this was really nothing at all. I haven't even bothered to watch the video. At this point, the only things really left are the 4 armor progression videos, phase 2 of the Guild Launch program, the final Holonet piece, and getting the damn game out.

The Gamescom presentation was really lame. 4 hours of waiting for 10 minutes of gameplay with a lvl 1 char? cmon BW, you can do it better. remember gamescom 2010, that was a nice presentation with an introduction in swtor, Q&A and than 10 mins of gameplay. (with a lvl 1 char ;) )

You know I really don't want to add to the QQ but this update was lacking. I think they have set the bar for these updates pretty high and when they fail to deliver on what the fan base expects all hell breaks loose on the forums.

Oh well, time to hit [Send/Recieve] on my email account for the 1,000,000,001th time just in case I get a late invite :P

I wonder if this was planned for the Friday update or if it was used to replace something else that was not going to be ready by deadline today? Armor progression videos, skill trees, the Voidstar (3rd warzone that has been acknowledged but not heavily discussed), new companions, the legacy system, playable races for each class, etc. etc. I'd have to say that all the Friday updates since the Consular one have at best been an exasperating let down. For a game touted for having so much content one would think that getting a decent nugget of information one day a week would not be such a difficult thing to pull off.

It has the smell of a last minute update. Something someone could make in a couple of hours. I wouldn't be surprised if they made it more than a week ago and decided against posting it at the time and only brought it out after something fell through.

They should just stop these Friday Updates. Not that I don't appreciate the effort, but when they are merely stuff like this I fail to see the reason any more. I perfectly understand that they are not going to put much effort into a lot of new cool stuff after two events, but that's the point. Why do something halfhearted often, when you can do something serious more seldomly.

I'm still hoping for the Agent's armour progression. Fan Fridays and these somewhat pointless updates, no need for them. I would rather they just gave us worthwhile info when they have it, simple.

    Charming... yes? http://imgur.com/r6WrI

Because if they stop, people will start crying that BioWare is trying to hide stuff or that the game must suck because they're not showing anything. It's lose-lose for BioWare, so with that being the case, I'd rather they continue to do the updates and fuck everyone who complains. If you think it's a lame update, wait for next week's. Not that hard.

If they stopped Friday Updates to focus on the game - or some other legitimate reason - I wouldn't mind, of course.

I bet DH was going through de ja vu when they had to post this again on their website. Then they realized they had done a compilation from the most RECENT game expo. Thanks DH for being ahead of the curve.

I do not usually let the lack of a decent Friday update bother me, but really? A 2 minute clip of people from 2 weeks ago. I would rather they just release some in game footage then this. It is so bad, I may brave the official forums, as I am sure they are on fire by now.

Same here. I usually cut them a lot of slack, but this was lame. A Fan Friday would have been better.

At least the reaction on the official forums is entertaining.

HAHA over 71 pages of rage on the official forums and its early yet!

I've seen the video -- it is a very effective marketing piece... As long as people don't hit the link to the forums.XD

I'm so glad I can come here, or to other fan sites. The piranhas on the official site have killed the logical side of their brain years ago. They get so worked up about the lack of a stellar Friday Update, they fail to grasp the fact that the game is just around the corner. The official "T" rating is just more evidence to add to the pile (games are assigned ratings not long before a game is released). Plus, weekend testing is beginning today or tomorrow, and continuing every weekend in September. If that wasn't enough, the NDA could drop within a month or two (it usually drops when large open beta gets underway -- but SWTOR won't have an open beta).

Have a little patience. That's what I like about coming here -- people are much more chill, and understand that this is just one more day toward the ever approaching launch for SWTOR.

This game isn't getting pushed back into 2012 barring some catastrophic meltdown. BioWare are ramping up testing this September. If that goes well, they will have an idea of the stability of their servers as they finalize and polish up the launch build of the game.

Best case scenario? Your relatives could be screaming at you during Thanksgiving dinner to come eat some turkey before it gets cold while you kill sand people on Tatooine.

The launch of this game is imminent. Soon we'll have all the info we will ever need.

Is it really worth getting uber pissed at not getting an insane Friday Update?
