They've definitely improved those lightsabers. They look really great now :)

    Fullsize link isn't fullsize

Its almost exactly the same as the second screenshot we got way back in 08, when they first started showing stuff.

Cool to see how much it has changed. :)

I thought the same thing but was wondering when I'd see other comments affirming this. This SS looks like the models from back in 2007 to me.

So they either dug up an old screenshot, or this is a new one that just happens to resemble the older ones. :)

I think it was likely intentional on their part. People criticized the look at first, and this is just a great way to show exactly how much better the aesthetic and graphics have improved since then.

Hmm.. I am a bit bothered by the lack of eye contact. The Sith seems to staring at the back of his gloves; for some reason I find this disturbing. He should either have direct eye contact with the Jedi, or staring at her blade hand.

Also, the light saber is longer and a bit conical compared to the traditional ones in the movies.

Bit nit-picky, I know; But those eyes are really bothering me. :(

As I study the picture after reading your comment, I realize this is going to be one of those discussions that can go a hundred different ways depending on perception & interpretation.

For me... Honestly, he is mid-fight, in the middle of either a parry, or getting ready to block.

I've seen close-up images of boxing matches and, I would say maybe 7 times out of 10, the fighters aren't looking at each other while in the heat of combat. Maybe it is because they know the punch is going to land and they are putting more focus into their punching power, if you want to get all zen about it.lol Either way, I am a little more forgiving of it because of the screenshot I am going to post below.

As you can see, he appears to either be looking into her eyes, or he is looking at their blades colliding. In any case, he is looking in the direction of action, or he is looking in the direction of his opponent - both are appropriate.

Then comes in the super Star Wars nerd side - the inclusion of different lightsaber forms and fighting styles into the equation, each with their own ideas of how a combatant should focus in battle. But I'll spare you.

In the end, this can all be solved by saying every person has their right to nit-pick.XD

I have noticed the eye focus as well. If there is targeting involved then adjusting the models to look at each other could be done. I do prefer that there is eye contact, and it reminds of me of the times learning to play soccer/football and staring at the ground instead of looking ahead like a noob. It's not a big deal in a game, and even pro's look at the ground when dribbling sometimes but could mean the models in game shift their views? It could be possible that the models shift where they are looking and sometimes make eye contact. Anyways I hope where eye contact/eye direction is made is addressed.

He is just fighting smart. That dirty jedi is going to throw something into his eyes and go for the kill!

He could be looking at her chest and making it seem that he is looking at his gloves.

OK - I'm calling BS on this one...I have almost the exact same shot that was given to TOROCast back at the "community" deal at Bioware Austin a couple months ago. I gathered all the screenshots for my rotating desktop on my computer. [No - I'm not eagerly waiting this game, really]

Ok not Torocast and not exactly the same - but the same basic shot

Guess I've been looking at SS of this game for too long =)

I thought I was going mad when I saw it earlier on TORWars, I called it over there and found the same link.

I also had it saved with the others from the Fansite Summit as wallpaper, but now it's the galaxy map!!!

I'd rather not think of myself as sad,

    ...more like committed!

    I probably should be! :)

Maybe you can post a link to this picture so we can compare? I'd like to see this old picture myself. :)

Very similar, but with different poses. Like both screens (the fbiw & this one) were taken in the same session.

Personally, I love them both. Even if they are VERY similar, the slight difference is enough for me.:)

I am noticing how the lightsabers are a cone-ish. They are slim, so they look alright imo, but I think to differentiate the look of lightsabers they wont just go by sound, looks of the hilt but also the look of the blade.

I wonder if they have any sparking lightsabers which are 'unstable' but would be an aoe lightsaber, or just something that does more damage.
