Friday Update: Signs of War Trailer and Operations Game Systems Page

This week's Star Wars: The Old Republic Friday update is quite a huge one and can best be described as a four parter. The first two have us drooling over a new trailer named "Signs of War" and Operations Game Systems page.

In the Signs of War trailer, the Trooper that most prominently received a facelift from Malgus in the Hope trailer is seen for the first time in-game. The trailer, narrated by Satele Shan, features several locals from the game that players can expect to visit when they get their hands on the game. The new Operations Game Systems page contains information on all of the current Operations along with images and video. On a side note but almost just as important, originally first revealed during the main panel at New York Comic Con, the global launch date is now December 20. BioWare also reminds fans to attend Paris Games Week, which they will be in attendance of in full force.

Our dissection is now available in the media gallery below. As with all of our dissections, things mentioned in prior dissections will not be mentioned unless otherwise needed for context. Feel free to mention stuff that you see in the comments section of this post and we will credit you with the find.

    Great update.

One thing though. Global launch lol. I wonder how many people outside the announced launch regions got upset over that.

Well other than the IP block from origin for digital versions, and using mailing services to mail a hard copy, it does not seem much different than other games that don't restrict ip for access but may or may not have stores that order the game for people to pick up in their own country.

It is essentially the same if a red zone store ordered a bunch of copies of the game to their store. The difference maybe the date of arrival by not being in the green zone.

It's probably going to be another burn for the red zoners, but despite the unfortunate circumstances the ability to log in from everywhere makes it better than restricting them completely.

Hopefully more access is made much more available soon with origin, and offering more CE again as well. The more the merrier.

Yeah, I still don't get why people are making such a big deal about something that's been going on in the industry for years. There are hardly any games that have true "global launches", especially MMOs with all of the factors involved with them. WoW *just* had an official, localized version launch in Brazil after 7 years, yet Brazilians are acting like BioWare and LucasArts are being unfair by not having the game there already. WoW didn't launch in Europe for a few months after it launched in North America and Australia/New Zealand.

People need to get over themselves and realize it has everything to do with logistics and nothing to do with treating people like "second class citizens" or whatever other silliness they want to talk about.

Hi all! I didn't read all the comments (TLDR!!!) so someone might have already spotted this... Or worse this might be utterly irrelevant... Or worse still I might just be seeing things! But is it just me or is there a humungous sith(?) statue in the background of the image with the personnel carriers deploying (image 9)?
  • #38 CornbreadChrist
It's a giant Jedi statue. Ilum is a long time Jedi sanctuary. There are ancient Jedi enclaves here. The Sith have only come to the planet quite recently.

In screenshot 13, it says that it is Quesh, but is it possible that it could be Voss instead? Just wondering as from memory the colour schemes look similar...

Also - the JK in the fore (of 13) appears to have a visor-type headgear. Possible first cyborg JK image?
  • #47 RogueJedi86
Could just be a Miraluka, since they wear visors too.

Best Video so far. I'm also glad to see they made the release date a singular time, not a staged one. Nice Save Bioware. That last skill by the Imperial Agent was awesome. Like a mini nuke missile. So Cool. I can't wait.

    Pathos.

Generic mission missile, not an Imperial Agent ability.

    Charming... yes? http://imgur.com/r6WrI

Wow. You guys are all exited, and your excitement is rubbing off on me now and got me excited!

I know what it sound like, bit you know what I mean.

    Woohoo!

    Yeah it sounds sexy =P

"Personel carrier" should be "personnel carrier". Otherwise fantastic dissection. This video is certainly epic, even without the CGI of the other trailers.

In fact, the use of gameplay for such an amazing video gives me even more faith in the game itself. December is looking better and better.

WTF? An IA is shown in an official trailer? This can't be...

Too bad his role was pretty timid. :/
