It is the first official day of New York Comic Con and there is plenty going on in regards to Star Wars: The Old Republic on the show floor. In our second piece of content from today, we cover the 'Q&A Panel with MMORPG.com' with a live blog directly from the event starting at 6:30PM ET/3:30PM PT. While we are unsure what will come out of the Q&A, you can be sure we will note it in the live blog as it happens and the transcript (of the major points) some time after the conclusion of the panel.

I believe they mean the details such as cross faction or not, fees, ect.

Most likely the function is there and working and they are ironing out the details. All of which are easy to manipulate if they built the systems correctly.

Well, to me that goes back to basic functionality comment and while TOR wont be, strictly speaking, a player-based economy; it seems like it will be a robust one. Therefore, this is troubling to me. That said, the economy wont be really flying until a month or so after launch so they do have time, but if players have trouble finding and selling items it will cripple the game.

Ugh, I guess I know WHY there hasnt been a friday update soley about the economy yet. /palmface.

Well they've also stated the item mod system is in flux and everything I've heard about it makes it seem like its a core to how the economy will work. Could have something to do with why they aren't talking a whole lot about economy portions yet.

Could very well be. After hearing so much about "polish," its a bit suprising to me to find these systems still in a state where they could be completely overhauled. Not unusual though.

To clarify a bit, the person asking the question was interested more in advanced tools for the Auction House, stuff that would help players who were really interested in "playing the AH mini-game" to be able to do so more effectively. (The kind of stuff that is done by plenty of WoW add-ons.)

The answer didn't strike me as "we don't know how it's going to turn out," but more like "yes, we have basic features done, we're working on advanced features, but we can't quite promise they'll be ready at launch."

Now that is good to hear. Thanks!

"6:57: Q: Race/class combos? Erickson: We decided the list. Reid knows. Reid: Sith Pureblood Inquisitor"

Soo..did he just confirm pureblood inquisitor for launch? Hope so! :D
  • #26 zechio
    Yes...he did:)

I knew there wasn't solid enough "story" reason behind them not being there. I am now mostly happy. ( Still woulda preferred either Jawa SI or Massassi, but Pureblood was right up there with those 2. )

Personally I thought the story could fit either case.

Purebloods are the pinnacle of the society, groomed and powerful. Yet, one has to wonder, with all the infighting going on, would a few families fall from grace now and then?

But in terms of awesomeness, WOOT! Pureblood SI is about the most impressive sights. And suddenly an SI seems terribly alluring once agian.

    Charming... yes? http://imgur.com/r6WrI

Dunno. There is a lot of pressure for this so I'm not really surprised that they let it be. On the other hand the inquisitor story is about the character being an ex-slave, treated as much, and constantly calling it "slave" only some realises the mistake and quickly ask for forgiveness :)
In this light I'm not really sure that the true blood really fit in. Sure, sometimes they can be fallen, and maybe even sold as a slave. But I don't think that there were any sane person in the empire who calls a trueblood like "you, slave" at the first sight. I'd think most would go "pardon me my lord" even if the pureblood is in rags and a shock collar :D

It's a combo that looks good, I certainly will make one at some point. But story wise it doesn't make much sense to me, are they going to go with; change whatever according to feedback, are we going to see Chiss Jedi Knights at some point? I certainly wouldn't jaw drop if they did. T_T

I guess they did mean the more "evil" looking dark side chars. Cool.

I thought there was a yellow post "confirming" Dual Spec for release? Now its not again?

    Sadly quit :/

  • #12 gstommylee
Unless the question was referring about dual spec ACs rather than PVP/PVE specs
  • #51 Hardradi
I was there yesterday. I'm pretty sure they were answering regarding PVP vs PVE specs.
  • #21 Doorofnight
They've always been very firm that there will not be Dual Spec for release and that they are consciously designing all classes and all roles so that it isn't necessary to have a PVE and a PVP spec as the same talents give benefits to both.

What was probably confirmed was that they know a large portion of the community would still like it(at the moment, a lot of people seem to assume that the game they have never played will require dual specs without repeated assurances that it will not, they could be right of course, but they also could be wrong, but I digress) and that it is something that are going to look at doing after release.
