NYCC 2011: Second Drew Karpyshyn SWTOR Novel Coming Fall 2012

At New York Comic Con during the Del Rey Star Wars Books Panel, Drew Karpyshyn revealed that he will pen a second Star Wars: The Old Republic novel in Fall 2012. Unfortunately, Drew did not give any details on the subject of the book or its name. When more information becomes available about the novel, you can be sure we will bring it to you as it happens.

On another note, Drew stated that when fans pick up the Revan novel on November 15, it will include details on how Revan turned to the dark side. He also stated players want the full Revan experience in SWTOR will have to play the Republic and then Empire.

    Drew Karpyshyn is such an awesome writer. I can't wait for the Revan novel. However, what does he mean by "It will include details on how Revan turned to the dark side." Did Revan turn again after leaving for the unknown regions, or is that statement referring to more info on how Revan originally turned to the dark side?

    I really hope Revan didn't turn to the dark side again.

    According to Kreia, he's neither Dark nor is he light sided, I hope Drew elaborates further on that, or perhaps she was simply lying.

    I'm 95% sure he was referring to Revan's original fall. It was a vague story with missing details slowly filled in by the first two KOTOR games. There is more that can be told from Revan's own perspective.

    Not many ppl were asking questions regarding TOR, so I had to throw one out there. I was glad to hear it ties in to both factions.

    To clarify, Karpyshyn said that "if you want to experience the Revan story arc in chronological order within SWTOR, you'll want to play Republic then Empire" or something to that effect.

    I hope playing the empire first does not over complicate the story of revan to be obscure from just that perspective.

    I suppose they are doing the same as with the timeline and how the chronicler is offering thier perspective as a Jedi, and from all thier own sources either primary or secoundary affecting the narrative.

    The same could be for the empire and from a certain perspective they know Revan from a certain perspective, since his story ends or is continuing from their side, but his story begins from the Republic. Therefore his beginning unless told by him, would be secound hand sources of empire intel on the matter. I am assuming of course.

    I like that they are doing this. This is an interesting take on how locations affect certain perspectives of history.

    Oh no, so I now need to go Republic first? I wonder if bits of the story will be in class stories, so you have to play all the stories, or just the Jedi Knight and Consular, then the Sith Warrior and Sith Inquisitor.

    Seems more likely something this wide-ranging will be a world arc kind of story. (Therefore all classes play through it via the shared quests)

    I doubt it will be the Force classes alone. Carth Onassi would fit in both the Trooper and Smuggler class, and there is little doubt about his involvement in the post-Revan galaxy. And he was perhaps the most important companion right after Bastila.

    On the Empire side the Imperial Agent is so fitting to a story of information interception that a lot of Revan info would make al ot of sense. The Bounty Hunter would have a bit of a grudge and perhaps class respect for Revan given all the encounters with Mandalorians and famous bounty hunters. You could say both groups would hold Revan as a sort of pinnacle of what you should try to aspire to.

    Very true to both of you. Hopefully it is more world arc stuff, because otherwise it will take years to find out everything if you don't listen to the 10 year old running around /yelling spoilers.
