Early Game Access "...may be up to 5 Days"

Ahead of today's Star Wars: The Old Republic Friday Update, the official pre-order page received an update and now shows a little tidbit about the Early Game Access period.

CUSTOMERS WHO PRE-ORDER STAR WARS: THE OLD REPUBLIC WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY THE GAME BEFORE THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH. EARLY GAME ACCESS IS THE PERIOD OF TIME BEFORE THE OFFICIAL GAME LAUNCH WHEN PRE-ORDER CUSTOMERS MAY ACCESS THE GAME. EARLY GAME ACCESS MAY BE UP TO 5 DAYS. THE LENGTH OF YOUR EARLY GAME ACCESS DEPENDS ON THE DATE AND ORDER IN WHICH YOU REDEEMED YOUR PRE-ORDER CODE AT THE CODE REDEMPTION CENTER. SEE PRE-ORDER FAQ FOR MORE DETAILS.

On a side note, the rest of the page also received an update with a new comparison chart of all of the pre-order options for fans. The changes should give players a better understanding of the options that are available to them leading up until release.

Hat tip to Zosha on the tip.

UPDATE: Early Game Access details are now available.

Many of you have been wondering how long Early Game Access will last, and we are now happy to announce that depending on when you redeem your Pre-Order Code, you will gain Early Game Access up to five days before the official game launch date.

Early Game Access is staggered over five days to ensure a quality experience for players at launch. Staggering access aids server stability and a gradual increase in player population through the game. Early Game Access will be granted according to when your Pre-Order Code is redeemed at the Code Redemption Center. If you have not yet pre-ordered Star Wars: The Old Republic, theres still time! Visit our Pre-Order page for more information and watch the Collectors Edition Unboxing video for a peek inside this highly coveted edition of the game.

    @ hooby,

No need to worry. You'll be able to download it from any online source you please and run it from your PC without ever touching Origin. Origin is just a tool to keep all your EA games in one place to manage (and make EA money). I personally use it, as I have a lot of games by them. The statement you linked was if you WERE using Origin to DL the game.

Great news...the wait time is getting shorter and shorter. I'm going to go the pizza and coke route with maybe a few beers thrown in. Already planning on taking that first day off...I can't wait!!

Fairly big, but not enough to reduce it by two days. If you missed the first couple of days then you are behind a significant number, but if you missed the next month you are barely behind the first option. It slowed considerably in the next three'ish months, until the recent surge. And you can bet that it will jump madly in december as people find out that the release is just around the corner etc. The last month before a release has traditionally been the most busy, even with benefits for earlier preorders.

I've registered my CE preorder on 25th july, wonder If I'll get 5 days or 4... or maybe even 3? Initial digital download rush was big, but I have no idea how big.

AH! I read on the forum that the pre-order page changed yet I didn't see any changes. I just didn't understand.
Now it's clear. the swtor.com/us/ changed but for me in europe it's the swtor.com/en/ and it's still the old one :(
But at least I know, it wasn't me not seeing anything :D

There is one sentence on that new pre-order page, that makes me a little uneasy:

"ONLINE DOWNLOAD OF THE PRODUCT REQUIRES ACCEPTANCE OF ORIGIN END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT AND INSTALLATION OF ORIGIN APPLICATION SOFTWARE (WWW.ORIGIN.COM/ABOUT)."

We already know, that early access requires you to download the game in advance. We also know that Bioware promised that creating an Origin account and installing their software will not be required to play the game - but entirely optional.

But we do not know, whether early access download will require Origin or not. (Since Origin is already set up to deliver all digital versions for download, it seems likely, that it will deliver early access downloads too).

I'd very much prefer not being forced to install Origin - especially with that "we may spy ur hard-drive" clause in their EULA.

Just want to let people know that while the initial rush for preorders was pretty big, there will undoubtedly be more in the second half of the period.
That means if you, like me, got the pre-order at about the halfway point, you will most likely get a little more than half the early access.

You, like I, probably have a list of them on a sticky note above your desk. We shall race for the good ones ;D

I guess I will have to join the all-nighter crowd. Havent done that since the first KOTOR, since no other game really was worth it. Until now. :-)
Since the last university exams are mid - December, I will have a loooong holiday, filled with SWTOR. I guess some of my friends and family will miss me, but who cares? They should go out and buy the game to play themselves anyway.

Sweet, i start my 7 days off on the 15th, and will be done with school for the semester. I see a very busy Christmas season ahead. Better get my shopping done now.

@Dejarik- I already have a list of names for each character I am making, lol. I will be doing the exact same thing.

Stoffi, that's surprisingly similar to my plan, down to the IA: Sniper and the chocolate. Probably DiGiorno for me, though.

Luckily I will be done with exams etc. I don't know if I'll be going the pizza and coke route though. I think I'm more likely to go for a nice fruit and yogurt smoothie, some chicken and rice, followed up with a fruit salad. we'll see who makes it through the night ;-D

While Dejarik is spending time coming up with names and reserving them here and there, I personally will be playing my IA - Sniper, enjoying the story, the quests, the crafting, the flashpoints and TRYING to pull an all nighter. Dominos, coke and some chocolate should help me through!
