    it's still a ninja. :(

I seriously hope these are just place holders.

The recolors when moving up gear tiers are expected and, actually, desired if you expect to upgrade your set gradually and have it not look terrible.

Looking fine overall. But, man, those caster shoulders...and the horned helms. LOL.

Looks fine.  Very disappointed that the classes share looks, pretty much.  Why bother designing gear to make a class look a certain way and build an identity with that class through 50 levels just to make the Smuggler look like a ninja at end game?

Are we sure these are final?  Doesn't sound like BioWare.

  • #40 MedicalProbe

These are the Imperial sets only.

I'm also getting the feeling that they aren't final, just based off of their character progression videos showing each advanced class, even the high level ones, in different armor sets.

We can only hope and pray :). These were the sets in game as of last weekend unfortunately. I really didn't see a lot of differences between ACs while playing the beta into the 30s. They can always update armor though so fingers crossed!

Go see an earlier reply of mine -- the concept art for the gearsets were on the SWTOR Holonet for over 2 years.

If you watch the progression vids, something is going to dawn on you fairly quickly. :P

I think the sets look great being low rez. My only problem is I think it will be wierd to see a smuggler that looks like a ninja.

  • #41 MedicalProbe

Like I said, above and below, these are the Imperial sets only.

See the video i posted below for the Republic stuff.  Smile

Also, in the last beta weekend, I noticed that when previewing gear on my companion it was showing as high res. You couldn't preview helms this way, but all of the gear sets looked great!

Your assumption about the off hand weapon exploit is wrong. You can no longer remove the main component of any artifact piece of gear as to avoid this. So whilst you could take out some of the mods, you can't just take out the hilt anymore and put it in something else, as explained by Emmanuel Lusinchi recently:

Now, if purple gear was fully moddable, players would simply farm the first boss, acquire 5 pair of boots, extract the armoring, mod and enhancements from the boots and slots them in their favorite Custom items. That actually sounds cool, but it really isn’t. Letting players extract the armoring mod from the purple items would trivialize end game gear progression and stop rewarding successful and dedicated players for their efforts.

So, instead of letting that happen, we prevented the Armoring, Hilt and Barrel from being extracted, but we also made sure of dropping purple Armoring mods of equivalent power as Operation loot. This means that players going the mod route can still take their favorite orange armor and make it as good as a operation purple armor (with some temporary caveats).

Also these images show the PVP and PVE sets for the Imperials:

How current are those images? I only ask because the sunday on this last weekend beta I actually found the PVP gear vender and did the dressingroom feature to see how the armor looked and the inquisitor armor looked nothing like the images you have listed for them.

His statement wasn't totally wrong, you can get all the removable mods(minus barrel for pistol) out of the off-hand purple and drop that into the item you want to keep forever because of the way it looks. you can then go on and raid eternity vault normal mode, kill the 2nd boss(just using 2nd boss as example) and that boss drops a barrel that has the same barrel stats as the offhand purple that you took all those other mods from.

"So, instead of letting that happen, we prevented the Armoring, Hilt and Barrel from being extracted, but we also made sure of dropping purple Armoring mods of equivalent power as Operation loot."

I can then drop that barrel into the gun I dropped the other mods in and have the best options in the gun that I wanted to keep to stay sexy. the same thing can be done for armor and really only comes down to "how good are the 2 set and 4 set bonuses of the teir sets" .if the 4 set bonus is only 5 point difference than the 2, I would take 2 ugly pieces(belt, gloves) to get the bonus and mod the rest of the sexy pieces I already have and have the same stats as the teir pieces but look how I want.

Some people say it's lazy they only went with one look with different colors, but as others have stated with the modding system you can have any look you want and if you raid you can have that look with operation level mods in it.

*uses Flame Shield* it took WoW patch 4.3 to let people transmog the teir 13 to whatever look they wanted, and people hail it as revolutionary, but TOR launches with the same system via the modding system and people call it lazy. Tier 1-12 in wow was same look diiferent colors, selective amnesia I guess. Be happy with what you get at launch I only had a few complaints which says volumes for a launch game, I imagine by TOR patch 4.3 it will be hotter than girl on girl action in the mos eisley cantina, right?

*Edit in case some do not know if the barrel is locked in the slot, you can't take that one out, but you can drop a new barrel from a raid drop or crafted one into that slot, it just destroys the barrel that was in there when you do so*

Transmog is not the same as the modding system. For the modding system to have a "usable" item you need to insert epic mods of the needed qualities. For transmog you just need some gold to make your recent item look like the one you want it to look like.

I bet they will have tier 3 out in no time and we'll see just how epic of a "step ladder" they plan. Also, I bet that these will look MUCH better in game than in a preview pic.

Thanks for the hard work datamining this info.

    Cheers,

Ehhhh, relax kids. Its their first shot outta the barn. They'll get better with time. Please tell me I'm not the only one who remembers how shitty high end WoW gear was back in the day. It really wasn't until BC that Blizzard got the hang of it. So lets give them time.

Personally, I thought everything but the SI stuff looked cool
