Explanation
UPDATE: We recently added images showcasing the Republic faction's Operations gear. You will find these images on their respective class pages.
Three tiers of Level 50 PVE gear appeared in the 11/26 patch: Tionese, Columi, and Rakata. Darth Hater spent some time poking around in-game and analyzing client data to attempt to determine how one could acquire some of the highest item level gear sets. All items included two- and four-piece set bonuses that curiously displayed only when the item is equipped; these set bonuses were mainly buffs to existing abilities and not unique to a particular tier.
So far, set names remain consistent to combat role through item progression, and carry a unified look throughout so you don’t look mismatched or out of place. Armor set names were the same for both factions, and we do provide some low-res preview images of both the Imperial and Republic versions of the sets on each class pairing page. It is confirmed that the Republic versions of the armor sets look different, and keep in mind Imperial Agents use knives while Smugglers use shotguns.
We would like share what we found, and encourage comments if you believe anything is inaccurate or have any additions, as we’re happy to credit you for any legitimate finds.
One thing we noticed about purchasing end-game PvE items is that the off-hand weapon cost is less than the main hand cost. Dual wield classes can potentially pull the off-hand mods out and place them in their main hand weapon, and avoid purchasing the main hand weapon entirely to save up for a different piece. Bracers, belts, relics, ear pieces, and implants are missing from the vendor set, and may be acquired elsewhere along with schematics bearing the Tionese rank.
In addition to hard mode Flashpoints, we confirmed the normal difficulty mode of Eternity Vault yielded the necessary items to purchase Tionese gear:
Off-hand items: 24 Tionese Commendations & 37 Tionese Crystals
Boots & gloves: 32 Tionese Commendations & 51 Tionese Crystals
Chest, helm & legs: 39 Tionese Commendations & 62 Tionese Crystals
Main hand weapons: 72 Tionese Commendations & 113 Tionese Crystals
The next tier of gear is Columi, as the pieces bear higher item levels than Tionese and although guilds reported they acquired them from Karagga’s Palace normal mode, the datamined tooltips say they are from hard mode and nightmare mode Ops. Intended or not, we also had Columi items appear in PvP reward boxes. Columi gear is vendor purchasable via Columi Commendations or dropped item tokens containing the “unassembled Columi” prefix. Off-hand or main hand weapons, bracers, belt, ear pieces, and implants are not purchasable using Columi commendations.
Columi Vendor costs:
Boots & gloves: 56 Columi Commendations
Chest, helm & legs: 67 Columi Commendations
The highest tier is Rakata, and both helms and schematics dropped from hard mode Karagga’s Palace. All armor set pieces and weapons that were purchasable from vendors required a token turn in and not commendations. Rakata level implants and ear pieces are vendor purchasable for 120 commendations, which come from Ilum daily quests and turn-ins.
Rakata Vendor cost:
Token turn-in only: Unassembled Rakata

Posted 12/21/2011 8:11:56 AMWho cares if they look ugly...that what the mod system is in place for. All you need is the mods out the slots and wear what you want.

Posted 12/12/2011 7:45:51 AMIs this a Joke ? They all are Ugly. I don't even think the word ugly is strong enough. I'm usually not really concerned by the tiers skin - as long as they are decent - but this is the by far, the most awfull thing i ever saw.
This could make me stop playing the game.
Come on bioware ! you cannot mess all hte good job you've done so far releasing such a crap.
I know ! you're trying to copy san ku kai and the stressos look ?

Posted 12/11/2011 12:03:34 AMI have to agree with the majority of people who posted when I saw this gear. It's pretty awful looking. During the last weekend beta, I tried on all 3 sets and yea...it still looked awful. IMO the PVE end game stuff needs a makeover. The good news is that I also tried on some of the high level PVP gear from the vendors and it looks much better.

Posted 12/10/2011 10:15:31 PMSeriously? This is what the armor is going to look like? This is supposed to look Star Warsy? The only stuff that looks even remotely believeable is the smuggler/agent stuff. The Jedi stuff is unbelievably bad. A Jedi is supposed to wear crap like that?
I can't believe I'm the only one who thinks this gear is just wrong for this IP. I played WoW for a long time and even liked it. But come on, this is supposed to be Star Wars. I'm wondering if somehow I went through some sort of time warp and found myself on April fools day or something.
*Edit*
This looks like a Jedi.

Posted 12/10/2011 5:28:07 PMI'm almost positive they mixed up the Sorceror and Assassin gear, look at the tool tips for them. Plus what the have for assassin makes absolutely no sense, look way more like a caster head piece.
