I think that when I see people say that TOR is broken, I think they forget just how bad other MMOs were in their initial release compared to today.
In WoW, before Patch 1.1, players had to put up with:
In comparison, Pre-1.1 TOR is very good. Yes, right now there is a need to balance crew skills and some other things. Yes, I think that making Biochem reusables require skill level 400 is only going to make it more obligatory and the changes need to be rethought.
But still... TOR is a game that learned from the mistakes of others, and delaying the patch shows that at least they're thinking about the players wants instead of ramming through these things.
WTF? Stop comparing SWTOR to an MMO released 8 YEARS AGO! SWTOR has been in development for 6 years and Beta for 18months prior to launch!
I wanted it to be good; I love the Star Wars franchise!!!! But let's be honest, IT SUCKS! No combat log?!?!? WTF?!?!?! B A S I C M M O T O O L!!! Animation has priority over ability i.e. cast cannot start until animation for previous ability has completed?!?!? UI has WZ maps over-lapping side quickslot bars, even on 1920x1200. Not enough quicklots for abilities on some classes. NO MACROS?!?!?!?!
I'm sick of seeing people making excuses for this game; admittedly I was one of those people. But with the advent of 1.1 and its lack of basic MMO implementations, plus the usual vagueness from the devs vis a vis Combat Log, I'm unsubscribing with immediate effect.
Yea.... At least they swallowed their pride and delayed it instead of releasing a piece of crap.
It's as if they enjoy trolling the lot of us with these patches.
"1.1 coming Tuesday guys!"
*x amount of hours later*
"jk nvm lol"
Doesn't bother me if that means they release an update that doesn't totaly screw the game up. I would dare say they found a serious bug (or more) at some point yesterday.
I completely agree with you, as a former WoW player, i appreciate that Bioware takes the time to make sure they release a patch that won't make the game unplayable. With every major patch in WoW we always had our fingers crossed so it wouldn't brake the game, there was several times when a major content patch in WoW left the game completely unplayable, a couple of times even for an entire week, so i don't mind at all having to wait a little longer for patch 1.1 in SWTOR.
I love Bioware and their games and nothing will change that :)
There are bugs, annoying but not gamebreaking ones.
SWToR is not a broken game... a broken game means that you can't play it while you can perfectly fine play ToR. This game has issues, no big surprise and whoever was expected anything else is delusional and completely neglecting the MMO world.
For those which don't see the hugh bug fixes they put in over the last and coming few weeks, for those which ignore all the dev talk in the official forum and for those which are sitting on their lvl 50... well guys if WoW or EQ2 etc. had perfectly working content... you would have the exact same shittalk like we have now in ToR. But.... both of these games had horrible releases, broken encounter WHICH YOU COULD NOT BEAT AT ALL (in EQ2 was this the same with EVERY NEW EXPANSION) just to delay the progress of player and wasn't fixed until few months into the new content. For you... go ahead and search for your wonderland game or report your problems in a civilized matter but stop wasting space with your ongoing rants.
Agree.. I dont understand how some people can be so impatiant. We are not even a month into the game and the devs have already stated on numorous occasians that they are fixing the major things that people have been complaining about.
They are much more vocal and "out there" than other MMO devs and seem to be more serious about making this game an enjoyable experience for everyone than other devs have been in the past.
I for one have plenty of faith in bioware and have already subbed for 6 months. See you in space!
i totally agree. really, i have never seen more vocal devs in any other game but in guild wars, but they have customer community managers there. and patching is responsive, there's nothing to complain when the devs just want you to enjoy a fully working game.
I'm simply tired of bioware's promises. nothing has been fixed in this game. screw the new content atleast fix the old before i have to pay you again for a broken game.
"Nothing" has been fixed? Other than all the things that have been fixed. If you're going to use hyperbole, at least try to make it sound a little less imbecilic.
Solution: Don't subscribe, and if you are still interested in the game, come back in a few months. I'm sure you'll find, the game will have changed significantly by then.
that's exactly what i've done. Since they decided to screw us over big 2 days before a payment hit, it works out perfectly. I cancelled my subscription until they shape up. If GW2 or Diablo 3 come out before they shape up, it's their loss.
I'm so proud of these developers. They're doing everything right. They are proactively counteracting all the mistakes made by other MMOs, like WoW, DCUO, Rift... I'm proud to have bought this game and I see a great future ahead for it.
Are we playing the same game? I think I may be playing a different version of Old republic and seeing a different version of Bioware. Cause I don't see this as anything good. The devs in Rift was 10 times better then the devs in TOR. If you had the same devs in rift do this game, it would be 100 times better then it is now.
I don't think you get it, the only thing holding this game above water is the star wars franchise. They aren't fixing things that shouldn't have been broken at all. They aren't telling us anything, or listening or giving any feedback. Since the game came out they've been way too quiet.
We haven't heard anything about ability delay, or putting in a combat log, or whatever legacy happens to give us. Nothing about datacrons being unobtainable for certain body types.
Oh well, I'm ready to see the sudden drop off in players after their one month free wears off.
