Executive Producer of Live Servers Jeff Hickman posted an update concerning the Ilum issues that have taken place over the last several days since patch 1.1, Rise of the Rakghouls. Hickman explains that contrary to the belief of many players, they will not be implemented a mass rollback for those who took advantage of the valor gains. Instead, they will be reviewing each case and take action if deemed necessary to those might have gained an unfair advantage. You can read the full blog post below.
Jeff HickmanAfter Game Update 1.1 went live, we discovered that the Open World PvP area on Ilum was not working as our PvP design team intended. As many of you know, large groups of players began capturing the Ilum control points, then 'camping' at the enemy's base. This led to a very frustrating experience for a number of players who were unable to leave their base and fight back against their attackers. It was not a fair gameplay experience. In addition, some players on the attacking side gained more Valor points than designed for the time they spent in PvP.
The amount of Valor granted from these activities was significantly more than intended and we are now carefully investigating players who were on Ilum during this period, and present at some of these 'camping' events. I can reassure you that those who were involved and who gained an unfair advantage over other players inappropriately will be carefully reviewed and action will be taken to restore game balance. This could include Valor adjustments or account actions in accordance with the severity of the issue.
We have made the decision not to enact a mass 'rollback' of Valor points for all players in the game, or even on Ilum. This would unfairly penalize some players who may not have been present during this event. Rest assured though, anyone and everyone who is found to have exploited the situation to an unreasonable degree will be investigated and actions taken as needed. Our in-game metrics are able to give us precise details on where players were, what they were doing and what rewards they gained.
We take any sort of situation where one group of players gains an unexpected or unintended advantage over other players very seriously and will act to ensure that all players can have a fair and fun game experience.
Thanks for your patience while we worked to resolve this issue. Our team worked diligently to get a patch ready to address this and other issues, and we're already seeing the results in improved battles on Ilum. As always we welcome your feedback and will continue to improve moving forward!

Posted 1/22/2012 9:33:58 PMThe existence of a PVP progression path was something I'd really been looking forward to in this game.
Seeing the developers shrug off such a large number of players completely circumventing it, and taking no responsibility for their own craptastic design, is extremely disappointing.

Posted 1/21/2012 4:30:39 PMThis problem was completely foreseen.
Is he not aware why a few other games are going 3 factions? Faction imbalance has been a problem in PvP games going way back, and 3 factions tends to help resolve this issue. One of the main reasons the population cap and tenacity even existed in Wintergrasp in WoW was because of this.
Why reinvent the wheel?
People farming easy ways to get gear, titles and will work the system to their advantage? That's a main staple of MMO's for the last 15 years.
This game's management, continually, comes across as completely out of touch.

Posted 1/21/2012 4:42:45 PMYet they will claim they are not by trying to suggest that more rakghouls are what the fan base has been asking fore all along.

Posted 1/22/2012 2:45:57 PMI'm sorry but since when has a majority of the fan base been requesting a third faction as a must have? I'm fine with new flashpoints even if they are based on star wars zombies. Do I want them all to be like this? No, but this is far from the end of the world woe is me bioware doesn't listen to the fanbase. Honestly I would like to see them work on the interface and polish the problems raiders are having. In fact I think the UI should be a top priority, it's the wrapping of the package, I think what's inside is great it just could be presented in a more streamlined and efficient manner.

Posted 1/22/2012 4:28:28 AMThey will release a second rakghoul update and continue to ignore stuff the fan base has actually been asking for, like a third faction. All the while telling us it's what we wanted all along. If the fanbois are successful in shouting down our criticisms then bioware's spin job would be ever so much more successful.

Posted 1/21/2012 9:43:46 PMI'm fine with more rakghouls as long as this is the end. Having one big Flashpoints with rakghouls is not a problem at all, imo. Turning the rakghoul disease into a weapon certainly seems like a realistic bio-weapon. However, if they keep making Flashpoints centered around rakghouls, then that would be a tad over the line.
I do wish that there were three factions, though. I would put Jedi & Troopers together, Sith & Agents together, and Smugglers & Bounty Hunters together. I'd also prefer that they brough the Jedi Mystic class back (basically a grey Jedi class for those that don't know) and add them to the Smuggler/Bounty Hunter faction. This systems would certainly need a great deal of tweaking, so that's likely to never happen. A man can dream, though

Posted 1/21/2012 11:05:04 AMI wish I had more faith in Bioware. I have 3 friends who abused the crap out of the turret-camping. Minimum of 30 Valor levels on the first night. If something is done to them, I'll have faith. If not, can pretty much chalk this entire post up to bullshit PR.
Still enjoying the game, though! I had a funny feeling when they asked if I wanted to camp the Pub base on Ilum. Glad I declined, in the event something is done. These other kinks will get worked out. I hope.

Posted 1/21/2012 10:06:49 AMBioware is a complete joke for PvP and this just proves how stupid they are! So they delay 1.1 to make the patch work, but still break it. (and add a hose of other bugs!) Then rather than quickly close illium so that they can deal with it they allow it to run all day causing this major issue. Then they put out a emergancy patch that they move twice so that all the non illium players get to lose more play time to in fact not do anything! Great so on top of Republic players having to deal with a massive pop inbalance they get to deal with a massive gear inbalance! YES thats the way to prove in under a month that your staff is PVP FAIL award winners!
Oh and love how you idiots are so stupid that you base an entire tree around out of stealth burst damage, and then nerf it without giving anything back! I mean WTF has anyone there ever even played PVP in a game? Yeap sure is cool to take a squishy melee class and destroy thier burst without giving them ANY thing to replace it!

Posted 1/21/2012 10:04:05 AMI really hope they don't do rollbacks. As far as I can tell, these players didn't do anything wrong. It was part of the game for the enemy to capture the other faction's zones and that's what they did. They gained their valour from within the confines of the rules. It has been fixed and won't happen again.
Obviously, what the players did makes them complete arseholes, but they weren't truly cheating or doing anything else illegal. It was the fault on the developers, not the players.
As for the Ilum issue, I'm not as excited as I used to be about the planet. I haven't been there yet, but the striking faction fragmentation and obvious maturity issue makes me want to avoid the planet other than for the valuable resources. I'll just have to get my guild together and make resource runs.

Posted 1/21/2012 4:28:47 AMIlum is so broken it doesn't even matter.
Problem:
They daily is now kill 30 people.
I have a pure tank Sith Juggernaut.
Can someone explain to me how I'm supposed to get 30 kills per-day open world with no damage what-so-ever. I'll tell you how. Kill trading in a stack, so that I can AOE taunt and others do the killing. I don't get kills for guarding people, Yet, I have to guard people to get my PVP set bonus damage, which means I die faster so that someone else can get kills.
On top of all of this, the battlemaster loot bags drop centurion comendations if they don't drop battlemaster ones. Really? What am I suposed to do with these? At this point in the game my companions are in full Columi and I'm in Champion/Rakata. How would you have gotten to battlemaster without having champion armour?
So mad at endgame right now.
Don't even get me started on raids.

Posted 1/21/2012 10:06:34 AMRespecialise for your dailies or deal with your personal choices. A Guardian/Juggernaut buff is on the way, but you still have ways to work around it. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Posted 1/21/2012 5:31:45 AMYou do realize that you don't just have to score the finishing blow to get credit for the kill right? I'm a Jugg tank too and went from 30 armaments to 127 today in about one-two hour(s). Just join a ops group and do what tanks do best. You will get a ton of "kills" this way.

Posted 1/22/2012 4:41:06 AMI've completed my dailies both days with ease since the patch, as well as an additional ~30 kills each day, and i've probably done the smallest amount of damage to about 2 enemies total (no exageration)

Posted 1/21/2012 3:58:41 PMYa I know. I run in and do an AOE taunt, then wait for someone else to do all the killing.
The point is, I basically have to find a bunch of republic in a big pile that are going to lose or I'll be on Ilum for 6 hours a day just to get a daily finished.

Posted 1/21/2012 12:20:38 AMOne could be cynical and say that no actions will be taken and this is just a statement to try and shut people up.
It's so vague, it'll be hard to know if action ever is taken.
Is that Any Imperial Player then?
What the fuck is an unreasonable degree?
