Posted 2/22/2012 2:11:32 AMThe main problem with playerbases are the fact that they've grown used to having everrything served to them as they would like it to be. It hardly won't so, they leave and you can't prevent it. WoW set all this off and most that play MMO's now a days start there, surely they will expect something similar to that of WoW and be majorly disappointed as usual.
I still favor games that are set up pre-WoW. Like EQ back in '99. Xsyon for me gives me that same feeling of being left utterly to myself to explore, find weapons/armor and craft, see what these games, like WoW are and surely what SW:TOR is, themeparks that can and will entertain you for a while and then get hella boring.

Posted 2/17/2012 3:49:05 PMMaster Looter, Chests still broken.
Bosses that drop double exotech and no set pieces in 8m Hardmode
Soa being nothing more then a RNG fight
G4B3 prox mines ticking on people when they are nowhere near them
Horrendus lag spikes and d/c's. (walk 10 steps and get frozen) Then fine for 45m, then again.
The last couple of months have been nothing more then an extension of the beta period. Except I'm paying them to be a tester...

Posted 2/17/2012 4:48:10 PMIf the bugs were easy to fix, they'd be fixed by now. They're not holding back bug fixes just to piss you off. You say it's like beta testing, but this is far less buggy than a beta. MMOs will ALWAYS have bugs. WoW is 7 years old and still has bugs. Starcraft has been out 13 years and still has bugs. I haven't seen any gamebreaking bugs so far so the game's not that bad.

Posted 2/17/2012 3:51:06 PMThat depends. I remember WoW being unplayable on patch nights. E.g. back when Ulduar patch released: most servers were literally unplayable on Tuesday night. Ulduar as a raid was massively bugged. The trash kept resetting on us. The XT trash pulled the boss so you had to kill the boss and two sets of trash along with it in order to progress.
Over time, they have improved a lot. And most Cata patches have been smooth so far. But pre-Cata patches were terrible. We used to have a standing joke about raiding on patch nights in our guild.
Compared to that SWTOR has done better with their patches so far. (Yet to see how BW performs after releasing a major content patch like 1.2) I do agree that some of the SOA bugs need to be addressed quicker.
Nightmare mode encounters need to be redesigned to provide a tougher challenge (not simply by ramping up damage and HP on a per boss basis). Need new mechanics. Need better rewards from doing NiM: if not gear (I understand the tedium involved with designing 3 sets of gear), then special items like NC pets, mounts and other cookies (like a server wide notification when a guild beats NiM SOA or Karagga).

Posted 2/17/2012 7:41:39 PMHow can you compare an Ulduar patch to the patches that SW is coming out with. Most of the Ulduar and other isntance issues were due to millions of people hitting the same instance server so quickly. SW patches fix small bugs then break other mechanics. There is no comparison.

Posted 2/22/2012 2:04:39 PMThat wasn't my point at all. It is killable regardless of how constantly buggy this encounter is.
My point is that a bug like this really angers people, so it should be hotfixed -- not wait for a patch two resets later.
