Celebrating a Successful Launch: A Look At The Old Republic

After just two months of Star Wars: The Old Republic’s release, BioWare christened the occasion with a new video release. The video coined “A Look At The Old Republic” highlights developer and fan thoughts on the game post release.

News ArticleNo MMO launch is ever perfect, but we are pleased to report that the launch of Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ on December 20, 2011 was a tremendous success. More than two million copies of the game have been sold, and the servers are full of players logging in to experience their own personal Star Wars™ sagas and to play with friends through the hundreds of hours of massively-multiplayer content. It’s an exhilarating experience to watch the game grow as more people join, and even more exciting to hear what players are saying they enjoy most about the game.

i think everyones forgetting that bioware is a subsidary company and that EA runs the shots.

Does bioware want to make an amazing game? Hell yeah they do.

Can EA afford to carry the shareholder loses attributed to that said game - no they are all about DAT MONIES.

As a fortune 500 company EA cannot accept an average release - they need a financial plus sign to make the last few years of investment viable. If SWTOR is not +monies to shareholders from the get - go, it reflects badly on BW and dat loot is not represented in the market value of the company.

    <<<Pretty drunk

    2 much info ftl

that drunken bum ftl - who has the conche, someone can speak.

Successful it make be, I am not sure on that.  Around for a long time, well I am sure there are enough hard core fans that well make it run as long as they want. I am sure they are counting on the cool aid drinkers as for me. I will stick around as long as my guild does I suppose though most of us will not be around much in march because of Mass effect then probably be back who knows.

I would rate star wars as good enough till something else comes along.

The community rejected SWTOR on Origin, why is ok for Mass Effect to be on it? Origin is STILL the pile of nastyness now as it was then.

I'm playing since Early Access day 1 and hell, I'm not even bored with it. For those who don't like it: fine, just don't spoil my/our experience with your stupid and selfish commentary, and stick to another game, where you don't cry 24/7. It's for the better.

    Thank you!

You should probably not read the forums then if they affect you that much.  People are entitled to their opinion of the game and not all of us play the game for the story line.

There is so many stuff You can level up with, it doesn't have to be bonus, or heroic quests. You can earn XP by playing Warzones, Flashpoints, Space Combat, Companion conversations.

But hey, who am I kidding, You don't like to do the bonus quests, You don't like to get a few people to do heroic quests... I wonder what You like to do at all? Bitching about TOR?

No reason to continue a conversation with you since there no way to talk to a fanboy.  You probably think Jar jar was the best character ever.  GL with your endeavors.

I'm glad You found Your inner peace, also, I'm surprised I was arguing with a seer whole time. Maybe You want to share this weeks lottery numbers?

There is end content, it's just not having as much as a game with 3 expansions. What's so surprising about that? Why would people expect more of a freshly released title?

Then why you´re playing SWTOR? Since the beggining they said the storyline was their main focus ... I´m loving it, getting 50 now and still have 7 other storylines to see and lots of stuff to do. Great game!

Another thought here.  Why make this an MMO if the game is basically built around a single player story line.  This may be the confusing part.  People expect end game content and high level PVP for MMOs and since the game was supposedly created specifcally for the story line people are butt hurt and rightfully so.  10 out of 10 for RPG content and 5 out 10 for MMO content.

Sorry, but killing 100 jawas is not a MUST. It's a bonus quest.

So your saying that I can just do the story line quests and a few other quests and be able to proceed to the next planet?  You sir are wrong.

I'm wrong because You can't read? I wrote bonus quests. BONUS! You don't have to do bonus quests (which are usually killing xy, collecting xy). You can do Your class quests, and a few others  (heroics, area, ordinary) to be able to proceed to the next planet, yes.

Whats the difference between waiting around for an hour to get enough people to do a heroic quest and collecting X Y Z for an hour.

I'm not even reading forums, we have plenty of crybabies on fansites like DH. Unfortunately, I must say. Let them go to their favorite fansites, just leave us Biodrones alone. Sick of this shit.
