Current Active Subscribers and New Content Announced

Before today's Electronic Arts Q4 2012 Earnings Conference Call, a Financial Results page revealed a few details that may be of interest to fans of Star Wars: The Old Republic.

STAR WARS®: The Old Republic™ active subscribers are 1.3 million. Two new content packs — Legacy and Allies, available in Q1.

While unknown, it will likely receive a fair bit of discussion during today’s 2PM Q4 2012 Earnings Conference Call. When and if there are new details regarding the content packs, we’ll make sure to post it here.

Update: Allison Berryman clarifies the "Allies pack."

Regarding 1.3, there isn't a "guild alliances" feature slated for that update. 1.3 will introduce more new features (like the Group Finder) to the game, though! We encourage you to check out SWTOR.com and our community blog for more news about 1.3 as it becomes available!

Update 2: During the conference call, Electronic Arts did not reveal anything concerning the "packs" themselves. However, a small tidbit was mentioned concerning upcoming content for the game.

Frank Gibeau: We have a very aggressive release plan of content for the rest of the year and beyond. It's mainly focused in on adding a lot of new elder game content around PVP, around achievements, a lot of other features that the fanbase is asking for. There's also support that will be given to guilds, a lot of features and components that they are requesting as well.

Please tell me at least ready check is coming, lol

I've never been in a game that had Ready Check capability. It seems rather ... redundant. Why is it needed?

How about a raid assist to thats a "standard" feature in most mmo's to maybe in 1.9 hey come back we have raid assist lol

IMO the next change to be made should be deleting all of the 'Low' populated servers to get people and some standard ones should get merged. I moved realms to a more populated server leaving a level 50 behind, even though i have had to level again the game has become much better. If i didn't move i would of probably quit by now. New people joining the game or come for a trial will probably get bored faster and just decide not to play the game on the basis there is no one to group with.

So many servers and only 1.3million subscribers. I think WoW had less servers and had 10 million subscribers just in Europe.

    4 months into the game?

Don't be silly. Everyone knows WoW boasted those figures at the end of its head-start. By the four-month mark actual gold coins magically appeared and fell into your lap whenever you defeated a raid boss.

Do people forget that people have got to be torn away from old MMO's, nevermind getting them to stay on another. The long and short of my statement was that no-one wants to join an empty game and the numbers are dwinderling, there are less and less people on each planet everyday. The server i am now playing I leveled my last char with an average of 30 people on each planet, I've re-rolled and levelling another char - the next planet being Quesh, on the other planets on the way up this time round there has been an average of 7 people.

It's all well and good handing out free trials but if i had  trial and only saw 7 people online i definitely would not subscribe to the full game.

Lose a few servers or at least offer free transfer to shift to more populated

Certainly not a wow fan (haven't played in a loong time), but to draw a 4-month comparison. 4 months into WoW its sub numbers were growing fast. 4 months into swtor and its sub numbers are dropping even faster.

If they dont get thier pvp in gear  before gw2 its game over im sorry its just more pr fluff ill believe it when i see it but if gw2 comes out before this swtor will be pure pve nothing more. The majority of people are going to gw2 one way or the other. They still havent even discussed the chainstunning lol just amazing.

Before someone says anything play gw2 and tell me how swtors gonna compare with that? Ive played it ive seen 100 plus people in a large scale open world zone fighting over keeps swtor still cant even get the rated wz's out still and there out there chugging away with the PR fluff as usual

Dont really understand why ppl think GW2 will be the messiah of PVP. From what ive seen so far GW2 RVR makes ilum in the early days look fun. Huge Zerg battles is not what i consider great world pvp.

I dont think i know. Ilum could never handle 100vs100 and ilum did not have captureable keeps ilums turrets you couldnt even shoot . 50vs50 and more is not zerging and zerging is done more in swtor then gw1 and 2 combined.

Theres no chainstunning in gw2 and theres no expertise. Its the most balanced pvp ive ever seen i wish there was a weekend beta this weekend the last one was awesome.

Theres no way in hell tors gonna compete with that they need to get open world going before gw2 launch.

Hey im not saying swtor had propper pvp from day 1.. But ppl are awefully fast to jump wagons when they hear the slightest whisper of what they want to hear. If you think GW2 will go smooth without its own problems, server crashes, insane queue times and broken abilities, classes etc you havnt played MMO's enough.

Dont forget what SWTOR was sold on.. Im sure you heard the phrase story driven quite a few times. If you buy a game that is sold, advertised and presented as a story mmo(how can that ever translate into pvp?) why is it that you expect its PVP game to be anything else than below what other mmo games have.

I will be the first to congratulate GW2 if it gets trough launch successfully.. But i will also be the first to laugh at all the people who "GW2 WILL DESTROY SWTOR" when their own problems kick in.

lets see how it goes once they put a release date on their game.

    Have a nice day ^_^;

Heres what i know ive played swg in beta up to nge crap i  played gw1 for 2 years played lotro in beta up to swtor launch im currently playing gw2 beta when the weekends are going.

Im not concerned about launch or pve or anything else with gw2. Im talking strictly pvp vs pvp. Gw2's pvp in beta %100 destroys swtor's pvp its not even a contest its a sad joke. Ive played gw2 weekend beta have you? I know what im talking about which is why im concerned about swtors pvp. Even if gw2 tanks that pvp will be the uber pvp in comparison and theres no 15 bucks a month

Heres the choice when gw 2 comes out if it was to release tomorrow

Gw2 viable open world pvp REAL 100vs100  warzones that work and have REAL bolstering

Swtor repeat the same warzones with no choice get chainstunned grind expertise to do more warzones.

Tor was advertised as uber pvp also heres my proof http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTgbKxnHIdw

Theyre even coming out now going on and on about pvp content and the best gear is by doing pvp and all this lol.

Thats my opinion too. People shouldn´t expect too much from GW2. I think it will neither  become the new PvP reference nor it will bring any really new idea to mmos after i played 15 hours beta.

I think DAOC will still keep the crown for the next years  as the best and most motivating RvR game on MMO market.

Do you also know what other game features all of the things you describe? Do you know what game GW2 is "ripping off" and basing its design upon?

    Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

SWTOR is often cited as a WoW-Clone, but GW2 is a WAR-clone. Yeah, that can't go wrong ...
