Joveth Gonzalez lets players know the GTN should be getting better...
Quote from Caligari
It is extremely hard to browse the GTN at the moment. If you select something like Category=Armor, Subcategory=Heavy Armor, the search button will not illuminate and become clickable. Changing level range does not change this. It seems like the only things that will let you use the Search button is by specifying a partial name, or a rarity level (other than 'any').
I can only assume it has something to do with this morning's patch note:
"The Search button is now correctly disabled for categories that do no have a subcategory when there are no search results."
Galactic Trade Network
An issue that prevented some item category searches from functioning unless an item name or price range was also specified has been corrected.
The default value for the Rarity field is now Standard instead of Any. This allows players to search for most items without requiring that they select an option in the Rarity field.
We hope that this alleviates some of the issues that you've been facing as we continue to improve the GTN experience.
Amber Green solicits feedback on the recently implemented UI features.
Quote from Amber GreenHello everyone. Now that you’ve been able to use the UI Customization features implemented with Game Update 1.2, the developers would like to request your feedback. In this thread, please post to let us know what UI features or functions you would like to see implemented in the future.
We are already working on a few areas based on your feedback, such as additional hotbars and more customizable buff bars. While we do not have an estimate for when these features will be implemented, we are hoping that more great ideas will come from you!
Thanks in advance for your thoughts. We’re looking forward to seeing your suggestions.
Courtney Woods announces the triumphant return of Fan Friday for "May the 4th Be With You"; Joveth Gonzalez's head subsequently explodes.
Quote from Courtney WoodsIn celebration of “May the 4th be with you” we’ve decided to create a special Fan Friday. For Star Wars™ Day, we are highlighting some of the most creative and talented members of our community by showcasing them in our Community Blog!
This week we have a community member spotlight, new forum emoticons, and to begin with, some amazing fan art.

Daniel Erickson explains that stepping into an instance should soon be as simple as...well, stepping into an instance.
Quote from rblake
I can not get into this Flash Point, I can not talk to the NPC to acquire the mission. I have completed Boarding Party on normal and hard modes. I have dropped the Call to Arms mission as many have suggested but doing that still does not make it where I can talk to the NPC by the instance. Has anyone else had issues like this? I appreciate any and all advice.
Quote from NotRonin
The trigger to enter Foundry is to finish Boarding Party with Call of Arms active, then talk to the Moff (located inside the door to the north). This will give you '[Group] flashpoint Foundry'. You can then abandon the normal mode Foundry, and talk to the NPC next to the entrance of Foundry to get [HARD] Flashpoint Foundry. If you abandoned Call of Arm, then you need to do Boarding Party again.
Quote from Daniel EricksonHey Folks,
This system was a leftover relic that resulted from originally moving these Flashpoints up to Hard Mode. These requirements will disappear for Game Update 1.3.
Hope that helps!
Allison Berryman weighs in on perceptions of the SWTOR General Forums as a wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Our Community Representatives work hard to help keep the forums clean and to keep threads and posts within the rules, but it is very, very helpful if community members use the "flag" feature to report anything that breaks the rules. This brings it to our attention quickly so the Community Representatives can address it. If someone is breaking the rules, we encourage you to flag the post and move on, and we'll take care of it! Just flagging and not responding in kind helps keep flaming and other unconstructive posts off the forums.
...she also explains that yes, BioWare is listening...

TLDR; DEVs, show us that you have read the forums over the weekend and that you hear our plea about our concern for the game. Please step up and address the issues...Do you HEAR us and do you UNDERSTAND what is being said and the IMPACT it has on the community and ultimately the success of this game? ...Please take a moment and just scan the forums, get a sense of the community without a “focused” Q&A and address our concerns.
We strongly encourage you to keep an eye on the dev tracker and to make sure that you're always reading our community blog to keep on top of our latest communications. Don't forget to ask any question you have in our weekly Q&A as well - again, though we can't always answer every question, we're always reading your feedback and working on getting more information for you.
Allison stays busy this past week, addressing concerns over difficulties in spawning the Nightmare Pilgrim raid boss.
Quote from xenofire
We have been unable to make our nightmare pilgrim on Vornskr respawn for some time now.
Some guild on the server was fighting him and they said he despawned during combat and now they could not click the item to respawn him, we cannot either. Anyone experiencing similar issues?
Quote from MonsterrLuv
Kathol Rift (US) Working As Intended cannot summon this boss either. We tried to kill him yesterday and we left due to our EC raid starting. We're at the spawnpoint now, trying everything we can to get him spawned.
We're the only raid that has attempted this boss with the consumable (another raid tried without it and died... fast lol).
EDITED: We also noticed that the item to spawn the world boss doesn't even register as an object anymore. No name when you hover over it with your mouse, no way of clicking... It's not even solid anymore. We watched three people just run through it lol.
Allison also clarifies the passing mention of "Legacy" and "Allies" "expansions packs" in the Electronic Arts earnings announcement.
David Bass chimes in on the change to the Daily Warzone mission.
Quote from AmundS
Warzone daily missions changed from 3 wins to 6 played. While this might sound like a good idea it's really not. This encourages people to not bother winning. I've seen this already in the Warzones played today, after 2 minutes in Civil War where the enemy got two turrets 80% of the team just stood at our one turret to get the medals, because their daily would count anyways.
Please stop rewarding people for showing up.
Quote from jgoldsack
Wins count for 2 played matches. problem is, there is no way for them to know this because it isn't mentioned anywhere.
Quote from David BassThis was indeed a change that was missed in the patch notes. We apologize for this and are working to add it in shortly.
With this change, daily Warzone missions now require "6 played matches," however any win in a Warzone counts as 2 "played matches". This still provides a solid incentive for you to win, but also allows players who lose matches to progress their daily mission by participating.
Eric Musco announces the inaugural episode of the official Star Wars: The Old Republic podcast.
Quote from Eric MuscoHello everyone! My name is Eric Musco and I, along with Brooks Guthrie are happy to bring you episode one of the official Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ podcast, “Rocket Boots”. You can listen by using the embedded player, by downloading and listening on your preferred MP3 player, or check it out on our YouTube channel.
In this episode, we sit down with Daniel Erickson and Damion Schubert to talk about what we saw in Game Update 1.2 and what we can expect as we look forward to Game Update 1.3. Also, David Bass stops by to tell us about how things went at PAX East and share some of our convention plans for the rest of the year. Thanks for listening!
And finally, Allison again chimes in to clarify some of the confusion over what now can and still can not be Reverse Engineered as it pertains to Custom (Orange) gear.
Quote from MaximusRex
Post 1.2 crafted lightsabers are not REable still. Very disappointing.
Quote from Fusillade
Babyboom is 100% correct. Only post 1.2 armor can be RE'd for mats. That would be War Hero and Campaign only.
Bioware: Why are there 2 sets of programming code for armor sets, and RE'ing? This is infuriating. ALL armor/weapons should be RE'd for mats. ALL armor should carry armor set bonuses to any other orange mod-able armor. Most of us will not get War Hero/Campaign Gear to earn the perk of transferring armor set bonuses. Until then, we are still going to see clones at end game 50.
