Update 1.3 Details Revealed at IGN

Details on the forthcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic Game Update 1.3 are continuing to emerge, the latest of which come courtesy of an exclusive interview with BioWare's lead game designer, Daniel Erickson, and a preview trailer over at IGN. Following a whole host of confusion after mention of "Legacy" and "Allies" "content packs" during the recent EA earnings call, it appears (according to the accompanying video) that the 1.3 patch will in fact carry the Allies designation, in reference to the new Group Finder tool making it easier to meet up for PVE gameplay. Perhaps of most interest to many players, Mr. Erickson also seemingly confirms limited server transfers coming with 1.3:

Most servers seem to be light or standard population density these days, are you considering implementing server merges in the near future so it’s easier for players to find group members?
Character transfers for select servers are coming first and we are open to any and all options after that. The important thing is that players can play with their friends and with the type and size of community they enjoy.

James Ohlen further supports this notion in the video preview. We've heard recently (via Stephen Reid's Twitter) that some form of transfers would likely be available prior to 1.3, so this would appear to lay to rest rumors of transfer functionality being pushed beyond 1.3. In addition, Mr. Erickson talks details on new Legacy system features, Adaptive Gear, Augment tables and a tidbit that while 1.3 is primarily a housekeeping patch, we should expect to see "big content" with 1.4.

This is only a small selection from the interview so make sure to head on over to IGN for details in full. For the embed of the trailer, hit the jump.

Diid they lower the cost of legacy stuff?

My main thing...is i want the xp bonuses...

I still think that james doesnt know the different from "game content" and "game features" a lfg tool is not game content lol

    A 'game system' is not 'game content', yes, BUT it *is* a 'game feature' and does improve content. What don't you like about Group Finder, Legacy Perks, Adaptive Gear and/or Augment Unlocks? I think this is hard work and I'll enjoy the benefits of their labors... {No, no, QQ}

Yep, too little too late.  I am absolutely, painfully bored with this game already.  Last hurdle is to take down final boss in Denova on hard mode then I'm gone until real space combat is added.

"Character transfers for select servers are coming first..."

If this means High population server transfers to Low population servers... who in their right mind is going to leave the comfort of their lively, healthy populated server to join a dead one??? Now that the queues are gone, I guarantee you NO ONE will be transfering off The Fatman to join some dead or dying server. Most of the people residing there now CAME from those servers.

And my server, which is one of the most populated PvE servers in the game barely has 80 people on the Fleet during peak hours anymore. So, which "select servers" are they refering to here? Because if it's any of the top 5-10 servers, the population on those is already on a decline and offering a transfer off of them will only kill them like the rest.

Also, the fact that they are actually going to make us pay for specific transfers is completely ludicrous. You'd think a service needed to keep their game from going under would be "on the house". Who do they think they are, Blizzard? LOL

As far as I remember, they will not "move" people from high populaton server but allow people from low pop server to move to medium/ standard pop server "to build" another fatman.

The reason for the "paid" transfer off a high population server is understandable but uneccessary for the first time people want to move. The game is 5 months old, people settled down where they want to play so let everyone get their characters to the server they want to play on.

Siros is correct here.  They will allow those players on "dead servers" to move, not move players from High Pop to lower pop servers.

I'm going to live in my fantasy world and pretend that server merges and a new companion will come with 1.3

These "limited" server transfers should be "free" server transfers for people on low pop servers to move to a medium/ high pop server probably even free for anyone which wants to transfer a character to another server since player can't held responsible for the amount of available server for swtor.

Also.. 1.2 was overall "received well"? I guess my server is not following the majority of players then because we lost a bunch of players over 1.2.

Nothing mentioned about ranked warzones is sad as well.
