Posted 6/6/2012 1:06:46 AMFor me, while the settings look impresive, my main issue still is the fact that they refuse to try and differentiate from the wow model in terms of endgame condent. So heroics, ops, dailies and wzs. Ok, we get it, some people (really) like these. How about the rest of us that came to this game with hopes for something unique in terms of MMO mechanics on top of these game systems? I am not asking to scrap these for sand-box gameplay (never palyed SWG), just something IN ADDITION to these 4 choices. Leveling is all fine, but that's the trademark of single player games, especially being so linear. Plus, once at top level then story and companions stop being the focus, which are the 2 main characteristics that differentiate (and make enjoyable imo) the leveling process in swtor.
Anyway, TLDR unfortunately all they showed in that trailer is that swtor will be a pure wow cataclysm-clone till at least the end of the year.

Posted 6/6/2012 2:32:00 AMWell what would you suggest at end-game? You criticized all the current routes but didn't suggest your own.
Just trying to steer your remarks toward something more constructive. :)

Posted 6/6/2012 9:56:08 AMI am not a game designer so take these suggestions with a pinch of salt. They are not "you must do these now!!!" demands, but rather ideas (that might be bad :-).
The way I see it, Bioware needs to expand on the end-game systems either vertically or horizontally. Vertically, they would keep the 4 main activities (FPs, WZs, Ops and dailies) and build on them by adding extra layers of gameplay. What does that mean? Well, as an example, let's say there is a weekly count for the wins of each faction per warzone and at the end the winning faction gets some sort of reward. For example, you win Alderan CW for this week, then a special area becomes available to your faction in Alderan. The benefit would be that in this area ONLY you can find special mats for special, non-combat items. How do you make these items? Well, winning other WZs for the week opens up other adventures (or even simply recipies at a vendor) that gives you access to these things (ie Voidstar being associated with special mounts/ship external mods/capital ships) etc etc. They can add extra leayers on top of that. For example, the recipies for the more exotic items could need contribution from different members of the same guild, or the areas that open up for the winning faction will be fair game for open-world PvP (but only the winning faction would have access to the special mats).
For horizontal expansion, they can simply add extra game systems that are independent to the ones already in place. Borrowing from other games, they could add for example " Rifts" in the form of random invasions by any of numerous pirate/gangster/alien factions, having potentially each of these enemies have their own flavour and concentrating in specific parts of the galaxy, having different rewards associated with helping to combat them etc.
Finally, they could find ways to keep existing content relevant despite future patches. For example, having dungeons with stat normalisation that are always challenging and giving their own, special set (like GW2 and soon in MOP) would also be a nice constant source of challenge imo, rather than having everything in Tiers and becoming obsolete with every new Tier.
Anyway, these are just ideas on top of my head. I am no game designer and I don't pretend to be one. I am a player though, and a paying one for that, and I believe expecting the minimum amount of innovation and product differentiation for my money is not excessive. I want this game to do well, I really do. I hate it when companies feel they have no competition (like Blizzard and Apple in their perspective markets right now). But Bioware is showing a particularly strong reluctancy in trying to be creative and that unfortunately bothers me.

Posted 6/6/2012 4:17:32 AMsorry man but didnt you hear what BW was talking about years before the lauch? and they were telling it for years and in all tones.
they wouldnt go ground bracking in mechanics (sandbox and stuf) but traditinaly, and making VO and story part better than other competitors.
I sorry but you should have listened and didn t just hope but expect and evaluate if you like the resault to suport it or bail on it.

Posted 6/10/2012 6:43:56 PMYeah, you people are never happy with what you get. You bitch for more content and get it, you bitch for a lfg to be pointlessly only server wise instead of cross server and get it, you get all kinds of extra time on account and still bitch. Hm... yeah fantastic community of swtor that used to bash the wow community, lol...

Posted 6/5/2012 10:14:54 AMI will be visiting the EA Booth at E3. I hope they have a demo of #SWTOR there. I still remember when they announced the game 4 years ago. Let's all take a step back and realize the game is 6 months in. Having an announcement of new content, a level cap increase and a new playbale race is very good news for a game that is less than a year old.
May the force be with you.

Posted 6/5/2012 10:24:15 PMTechnically they announced that BioWare and LucasArts were going to make an MMO together, set in the KOTOR era, back in 2005. The official website launched in October 2008 :)

Posted 6/5/2012 12:23:00 PMAWESOME! I was so sick of hearing people hate just for the sake of hating. This is a FAN site and only FANs should post on it, even if its fans with constructive comments. That obviously didn't apply to alot of the comments here.
I LOVE the new content they are releasing, could care less about being a kitty cat but I assume alot of girls will enjoy it. The new warzone looks sick, the new raid its intense, and the HK-51 droid is going to be amazing.
