No1 seems to be bothered with the fact that the new gear has the same set bonuses like the last 4 tiers.

    Agreed, it's all just so..bad.

I don't mind so much that it's recolored armor that already exists. I mean, different colored chest pieces are how you change the look of your whole set right? So having more options for the gear's chest color is still good. And frankly, where resources are limited (no matter how big your staff there's still an upper limit to what can be accomplished in one patch), I'd rather they put that time into improving the models, fixing bugs, doing things like giving us control over the expressions on our toons (which I hear is in 1.4... I hate it when I'm supposed to be laughing with friends and my toon's got this murderous look on her face...). So that's all fine with me.

...what's not fine is that (still) none of this says "Star Wars" to me. Random generic MMO, sure (what is with MMO costumers and the big frickin' shoulder pads?), but not Star Wars. If you're going to go to the trouble of licensing an IP, don't you think you should stick with making things fit that IP?

Well considering everything from the UI, to the way classes play, to everything else in the game is cloned exactly from WoW, it makes sense to clone the gear as well.  Atleast to EAWare.

To EAWare, TOR is just a WoW-Clone-With-Lightsabers-(Cash-Cow/or/Money Sink).  Due to the IP it is a Star Wars game.  Fans want more Star Wars-y stuff, EAWare just throws in more stuff from WoW since it is (considered, I got bored with it quickly) the #1 MMO, in hopes it brings them more money. It shows...

If it wasnt for the SW IP, it would have sold equal to or less than that of that of Rift or any other WoW clone, or MMO in general.  Probably 100k-200k at launch, peaking between 500k-1mill, instead of the 2.4 million they've sold worldwide.  The IP alone, IMHO, is the only thing this game has as a leg to stand on.

Yeah, as AudibleSmirk said, thank goodness for GW2.  Rehashed armor with a recolor that (just about) everyone screamed they hated, justify a sub it does not.

And to build off of what Fodiddle said:  GW2 has nice variety of armors.  If I dont like my characters looks, I'm not really going to care.  GW2 also solves this with transmutation stones you get for completing maps.  I want to feel some kind of connection.  SW:TOR as what?  Well lets see from an assassin viewpoint:

    Acolyte

Saber Marshalls (Which I actually collected a full set of when I played.  :D)

    Revan

    Revan with huge shoulder pads

Ancient sith with huge shoulder pads like you could use them to fly with.

    Supreme Inquisitor

Tionese/Columi/Rakata giant shoulder pads with dunce cap or bullhorns.

    Centurion/Champion/Recruit/Battlemaster chicken suits.

Campaign, fantasy assassin that looked like he just glues metal crescents to random parts of his armor.  I kind of like it, but still meh...

War Hero sea monster (Seriously?  I could deal with the BM set.  I just wore the black/red Sorc set on my Assassin, as Sin's was ****ing pink! WTH?  But a freaking sea creature looking thing? WTH man?)

And that pretty much sums them up.  Now, you paid your subscription for a rehash of the same crappy armor you've seen time and time again.  Sure, you could remove the mods, but people want something new and refreshing.  If they cant even come up with some creativity and some new models for armor, do you really expect any amount of effort in any content updates?  Or even their so called expansion?  I know I dont...

And that people, is what really grinds my gears.  :)

Ever heard of the "Orange Revolution" patch 1.2 brought? You can take whatever mods and armoring with set bonuses from Campaign gear and higher and place them in any orange item you can wear.

I for one, hate Consular armors from Camapign, they look even worse than the huge shoulder pad stuff from Columi I have atm. But as soon as I manage to get my paws on Campaign chest piece, I am going to use armor that I got from Black Hole quest, which looks awesome

Fortunately for those of us who would rather fix our own problems than endlessly bitch, our custom orange outfits will still be able to get the set bonuses.

  • #20 Rogoo

    So much fail.

Interesting how I had that same armor when I unsubbed a month ago.  What are people getting for subscriptions again?  Re-hashed armor?  Sweet.

    thank goodness for GW2.

  • #18 tingli1

I tried GW2 .... I don't see whats great about it, or even whats good about it.

  • #26 Haderach

    Me neither.

  • #27 AgentCelric

    Same.

  • #28 ChuckNorris

GW2: If I swing my sword and it hits you... guess what? You take damage. AoE. It does make sense right?

Now my lightsaber, if I swing it and you are in front of me but you are not my target... nothing happens. Dated combat system?

  • #32 AgentCelric

Should be switched. How many people do you know can swing a normal sword through 8 targets? My list is very short. Wait, why are you still trolling these forums? All you ever say is negative.
