Posted 12/12/2012 7:16:43 AMAs GM of a PVP guild I've been waiting forever for this to drop. Now that its here, I have to say 2 things. First, I like the new Warzone a lot. Second, in THIRTY-NINE queue pops last night over four hours, I only got the new Warzone TWICE!!!!!!! WTH is that about? New content I can't just "do" when I want to do is terribad. If you aren't going to give us a PVP group finder with the launch, letting us choose which WZs we do or don't want to play, at least skew the % chance to get the new one way up until the first patch so people can play it.
another terrible move by Bioware....

Posted 12/12/2012 12:17:29 PMLetting players choose which WZ they can do would just kill the old ones off like it has in past MMOs and would be a real bad move. Mixing it up is fine and proper.

Posted 12/12/2012 4:56:01 PMI don't think so. Eventually after a few weeks people on their PVP grind will take whatever pops fastest. I'm fully geared, so I'd rather wait for a Huttball or the new one. I should have that choice

Posted 11/20/2012 11:14:02 PMThey added more pvp gear? I think BW wants to improve the asian economy. How much does it cost to hire an Asian farmer to farm valor?
This is the 3rd new pvp teir gear set that forces people to regrind gear for no reason other than more stats creating an imbalance for the same pvp bracket that existed for a year.
They are killing thier game with this if they keep on doing this, and they need to figure out a way to make the pvp game less about gear grinds and more about the content. Hint: Open world pvp with actual mechanics - guild mechancs, destructible player housing, seiging, conquering lands, fighting over resources, duel arenas, mini games that dont require gear grinds, solo rank pvp, and large WZ's( which are open world pvp equivalents but since they are instanced allow for different mechanics which are not associated with long term goals).... and the nice thing about an open world system is the long term goals that can be invested into the game instead of a gear grind which seems is only the best for a couple months until something better comes along.

Posted 11/21/2012 12:11:27 AMThat is well, well beyond the capability of this gutted development team. I don't see much being added to SWTOR beyond new tiers of gear for pve and pvp, new dungeons, new raids and some new warzones.

Posted 11/21/2012 1:04:44 AMThen that is sad news indeed.
However, why cant they add duel arenas? Solo rank pvp? These are easy tings to add, and add a lot more to the game. The problem with making the pvp into a gear grind is that it takes away the fun by making it too competitive in an environment that is static (instanced and not open world pvp) and limited to a few variations of wz instead of something that feels very developed.
If there was more pvp content then it would justify more of a pvp gear grind... however... can anyone agree to every few months doing hours upon hours of grind for the same 3 - 4 and now 5 WZs?
The only thing that would take more work is reworking open world pvp that is indepth into swtor... everything else like pazaak (easy to add), duel areans, and solo rank pvp are not impossible but also important to the game.
However, due to how they treated pvp in this game... I think they should release duel arenas with pazaak and possibly swoop racing just so it doesn't feel as a something they forgot to do but finally added to appease their customers... pvp customers.
And the 'gutted' dev team is the story, and organizers of dev work mostly. They did not gut actual programmers for their game. So according to what they said, they have a greater output in content with more programmers... however... the content they are releasing is just more of the same.
People will want more story, more lvls, more pvp brackets mini games, 3d space content, player ship decoraction, chat bubbles, engine optimization for large battles... etc and adding more of a gear grind to pvp before other things are added to the game will hurt the game... maybe f2p will cover this up a bit, but I would not be surprised if long time subscribers take a break from swtor if Makeb does not deliver, and other things as suggested are not considered or mentioned when they are going to even be added.

Posted 12/12/2012 5:15:59 AMAnd it will still be pretty underwhelming, because with the current model it can't be any other way. Instead of concentrating their team on making an actual game expansion they insist on releasing small idiotic content patches that get chewed down in days.
Give me enough content to play this game for another two months and I will. Give me some silly war zones and items that mean nothing to me and I will go play Battlefield 3, because that's where I'm looking when I look for player versus player combat.
The longer I look at this game the more it seems like a failure in it's very concept - that is "story driven MMO". You can't make a multiplayer game that can be played as a single player game and then pretend the game is build around pvp. I don't give a poop about war zones, gear and all that. It's been close to a year (8 days close) since the game's launch and all the core (CORE) audience of this game got was more emoticons, face expressions and one companion... still no sitting on chairs.
Subs dropped because there's nothing to do in this game for those people who left and instead of doing anything to bring those people back by giving them even the smallest reason, they have concentrated on desperate attempts at fixing what was broken or wasn't even there in the first place.
