Welcome to the Darth Hater Community!
At Darth Hater, we are dedicated to providing a great platform for intelligent and constructive discussion, speculation, and the latest news regarding Star Wars: The Old Republic. Our content ranges from detailed dissection articles to thought-provoking speculation and editorials.
We set a high standard for our community, and our goal is to have the most productive discussion in the TOR community. Discussions that are not intelligent and constructive do not have a place at Darth Hater. To achieve this goal, there are rules and guidelines that apply to every registered user in the Darth Hater community. By creating an account on Darth Hater, you agree to follow these rules, including any rules that may be added or revised later on.
Any violation of these rules will result in penalties, ranging from the editing or deletion of a post to temporary and permanent bans from the Darth Hater site, and anything in between. These penalties will be determined at the discretion of the Darth Hater community staff.
Registration and Profile Policies
Users Must Be At Least 13 Years of Age
Darth Hater accepts registrations from users over the age of 13. Those not meeting this age requirement may peruse content in a view-only mode, but are barred from participating. Darth Hater reserves the right to suspend accounts for users found to be under the age of 13.
Only One Account Per User
Users may only have one account on the Darth Hater site. Users found to be logging into a second account for the purposes of violating the rules or evading a suspension will have all their accounts banned permanently.
Regarding Forum Naming Policy
User names on the Darth Hater site must comply with all other community rules regarding content and language. In addition, Star Wars related titles like "Darth," "Jedi" or "Sith" are off-limits. These types of titles are typically overused and can confuse users when many people with their name prefixed with the same “title” are posting in a thread. Users may not impersonate any employee of Curse, LucasArts, Bioware, Electronic Arts, or Darth Hater. Users who violate these policies will have their name changed, and will be asked to choose a new name.
Posting Guidelines
Do Not Post Inappropriate or Unlawful Content
Darth Hater is designed to be a “work-safe” environment. Users should not be at risk of stumbling across inappropriate content. In addition, Darth Hater is based in the United States and we expect our users to comply with all United States laws while participating in community discussions. With that in mind, posting or linking to the following types of content is not permitted:
- Pornographic, nude, or suggestive content
- Vulgar, derogatory, or offensive content
- Anything considered unlawful in the United States
If you are unsure if something falls into the above categories, then please contact a member of the Darth Hater community staff prior to posting to ensure compliance with the rules.
Avoid Profanity or Similarly Inappropriate Language
The Darth Hater community does not make use of a profanity filter. However, users are expected to avoid excessive use of profanity or other inappropriate language.
Do Not Create Topics Considered To Be Restricted
Unless explicitly approved by Darth Hater staff as falling within the realm of “productive discussion,” discussion of politics, religion, or sexuality is restricted and therefore not permitted. We also restrict discussion of anything that has become a standard violation of MMO Terms of Use agreements, such as purchasing and selling digital items and currency. In addition, we do not allow the discussion of moderation activity. If you have a question about moderation please email moderation@darthhater.com.
Do Not Make Unproductive Posts
All posts in the Darth Hater community should be made with the intent to start or continue a valid discussion. With that in mind, the following post types are considered unproductive:
- Trolling, defined as any post that is created with the perceived intent to elicit further unproductive responses.
- Flaming, defined as any post that is insulting or disrespectful.
- Ranting, defined as posting opinions without setting a productive direction for discussion. Criticism or complaints with no interest in discussing intelligently are not allowed.
- "Dead horse" topics, defined as any topic for which no more productive discussion can occur. (i.e., "Why are there four Force users!?")
- Spam, defined as either a "flood" of meaningless posts, or inappropriately placed advertisement or solicitation of items.
Use Proper Grammar and Formatting in Posts
Beyond the content of a post, the formatting and style of a post can discourage productive discussion. In particular, all posts should be made in a reasonable approximation of proper English. We realize that some members of our community are not native speakers, and we do not expect perfection: merely effort. Avoid excessive spacing or abusing the provided formatting options. Do not redundantly sign your posts, as we provide space for an avatar and signature to allow users to identify themselves.
We work off a "Three Strike Rule", strike one and two will be warnings, and strike three will result in a temporary suspention of the account. Further rules broken will result in more time suspending, eventually leading to the account being banned.
Rule Changes
The community staff at Darth Hater reserves the right to alter or add to these rules at our discretion. Any activity that degrades productive discussion may result in penalties, regardless of whether or not is it specifically mentioned in the rules.
