    fun ranged dps class?

    so ive been thinkin lately

i never really played ranged dps or casters in the last mmo i played.so i figured why not try one out in star wars tor, just wonderin what someone would recommend as far as fun ranged dps

i heard sniper/gunslingers were the best ranged dps but i dont know how people can really judge that without some kind of logs or damage meter thing.i also heard ranged dps were easier to play then melee to cuz i was thinkin if i couldnt find one that i liked just makin a scoundrel smuggler/operative(yeah i know i think they both can go ranged)cuz thats what i originally was plannin on makin

perferably one thats good in pvp cuz i plan on doing warzones/outlaw's den(i think thats what the arena type thing is called)also

Arsenal-Merc is hands down the best damage spec for the BH. It drops numbers like they're going out of style. As a bonus, they can heal and have a few defensive cooldowns. Your starting companion also is a healer (Mako is the only minion I use) and gets way better when you gear her out. you want a range caster, give it a try.

Ok, it's easy to judge without logs or DPS meters.  You play a class, and if you say to yourself "Self, I really like playing this class" you've found a fun ranged DPS class.   No Logs.   No Meters.  Just Fun.

IMHO, this is the problem w/ WoW, people forgot that it was FUN and it became a huge measure of how well you could push buttons.  Fark the meters and logs and just play it for the enjoyment of playing it.

As an example of this, I have played a Gunslinger Smuggler, Sith Inquisitor Sorcerer, and Bounty Hunter Merc; all ranged DPS.   All three of them have great story lines so far.  But they all feel totally different to play.  the Gunslinger is very single target based so on large groups I don't feel I'm doing the most damage in the group but on single targets I feel like I'm really kicking some tush.  The Sith Inquisitor is neat for effects and has a nice tanking companion, but seems a little slow on the dps side, not that it's not enjoyable just that it's a bit slow.  Against groups, my Merc is a killing Machine.   I am leveling w/ an Agent-Sniper and I can rain Death From Above on a group and kill them all before he can get off a single shot.  Excitement wise, I'd have to say he's the top guy for me.

Which ever way you go, have fun with it.   And let us know what you chose and how you like it.

Right now the cover bug can really ruin your Sniper/Gunslinger's day.  But that seems to be addressed in the upcoming 1.02 patch.
