Consular Companions

While watching the E3 "Player Ship" video I noticed a heavily armed Trandoshan wandering around on the Jedi ship. I wasn't sure where I had seen him at first but after some brain storming it hit me. A similarly equipped Trandoshan hunter named "Qyzen Fess" was featured in a screenshot released on 5/28/2010, the description for which reads: "A relationship between a bloodthirsty Trandoshan hunter and a Jedi is remarkable but Jedi pride themselves on being open minded." The most interesting feature of this shot is a Jedi Consular clearly visible to his left. Note That I am not the first person to see these connections.

Must be one of the main Consular companions... this could also suggest that some companions are class specific.
    An interesting concept.

I was under the impression that *all* companions would be class-specific, since they're story based and each class has a specific story.  It wouldn't make sense for that same character to have a different story with a different class.

I don't have sources to support this, but i was under the impression that:

    A. The Trandoshan was a Jedi Consular companion
    B. All companions were class-specific, as Harry said.

They seemed to only be showing companions that we have already seen before with one mysterious one thrown into the mix.

The update of the "Sith Warrior" coincided with the announcement of the companion section on the holonet. The first companion profiled: "Vette" was subsequently listed under the "known associate" section of the newly updated Sith Warrior, which strongly points to at least some companions being class or at least faction specific.

Every Class has it's own pool of companions to draw from : http://darthhater.com/2009/12/03/companion-characters/

"Jake Neri and Blaine Christine reassured us that players will encounter many different companion characters, allowing them to find the optimal compliment to their play style. They also pointed out that every class will have their own separate, unique companions; meaning that Kim Vaal and Xalek will only be available to Sith Inquisitors. "

Can at least put that one to bed.  Hope that helped... btw, thanx for making me look that up... I enjoyed reading that article again... heh.

Just watched through G4TV's video of the PAX panel since it was such high quality compared to the rest. Dont know if it were ever confirmed by BW if qyzen-fezz was a Consular companion but I found this image intresting in the "PvP" footage seen at PAX.

2 Companions, the one I've outlined relly looks like Qyzen-fezz and the other one got a look that I think is similiar to the mandalorians in KOTOR.

I'm inclined to agree. Nice catch.

It would be awesome if the Trooper had a Mandalorian companion.

It certainly would be interesting seeing how Mandalorians are former and currently borderline allies of the Sith Empire.

I think it makes sense to have a Padawan after A Jedi achieves a certain level and becomes a full blown Knight or Consular. At that point you can take on a Padawan that can complement your Spec. For Example:

Jedi Guardians could have a Consular Healer.

Consular Healers could have a Jedi Guardian Tank.

Jedi Sentinels Could have a Jedi Guardian Tank or Consular Healer.

You can see the pattern here a Tank can have a Healer or DPS Padawan. A Healer or DPS could have a Tank companion.

As Jedi/Sith having a "Padawan" as companion including the "you have much to learn" discussion between them would be just awesome.

Neat, but I'm not sure Bio would make it as simple as the Council assigning you one.  More their style to have you pick one up unexpectedly in your adventures -- maybe a padawan whose master was killed, an interesting force sensitive others won't train (Anakin), or even a young Sith who's (mostly) turned or been turned...

I've updated the companion thread on this. I think the chick in the Jedi Starship screenshot will turn out to be a padawan.

I agree, the possibility to find a complementive force user companion will probably be given. However, it is my belief that the fighter-class force users only start as padawans/acolytes, whereas the scholar-class force users start as slaves/outcasts of their respective orders. Again, Bioware wants everything to have their unique compelling story.

In the end, the result will be the same. A Jedi Knight will do his/her trials and recieve the respect of the order, the Jedi Consular already being of knight or master rank will have to re-gain the faith of the order or something alike before recieving a padawan. Same kind of story with the Sith Warrior (Think of the "my story" video) and Inquisitor (Think of the Blood of the Empire comic).

And highly likely to my opinion! VERY nice catch indeed!

When speculating on companions: Remind yourselves that you will probably not be assigned "Simply another human Jedi" as a companion. Bioware has made it clear that they are trying to make things as unique as possible. If we cannot have a race via a playable character, expect them to be selectable as a classes companion. If you will be accompanied by other Jedi, expect oddities such as a young apparentice or master from a unique race like Ahsoka as a Togruta or Yoda as his well known race (just naming some randome examples).

So far out of all the confirmed companions, only Mako and Vette have been remotely compareable to PC (Player Characters) and they've all been visually "set apart" from them. Like Vette has her PC-variant on the Republic side, but a companion for the Sith. And Mako has no visually identifyable character class.

On that note, it is confirmed that Qyzen Fess is a Consular companion aswell as it is highly probable that there will be a mandalorian companion for one of the republic sided characters.

Despite widespread prejudices against his species, Trandoshan Hunter Qyzen Fess has become a trusted companion of the Jedi Consular and travels on the Consular's ship across the galaxy.

Confirmation of Qyzen Fess as a Consular companion (source).

it looks like they put all the "alien" races into our companions even though in this case I'm wondering what is the difference if you and others ask what race you are playing or what race your companion belongs to.
