I have noticed that when I look at the other Class' armour I think they look iconic and they look like something i expect to see in Star Wars. I think the classes look good because of this. I am not much into Bounty hunters but i think they look good because when I see them i think that is a bounty hunter. Yet when i see the JC and the SI i don't think they look iconic in fact i have a hard time imagining they look like any of the jedi/sith from the movies, in fact the closest equivalent i can think of is Queen Amidala's wardrobe.
[Disclaimer] This is not game breaking or a sign that TOR sucks or will fail. It is just an honest opinion how I feel they captured the feel of each class in their wardrobes but the JC and the SI.
The Inquisitor has a bit of the Darth Maul look in the robes. And of course the Consular looks like Luminara Unduli, Barris Offee, Shaak Ti, and other minor Jedi in the films.

Darth maul's clothing was very understated much of the SI stuff looks bizzare. The video about quest line that reveals things about Revan shows a SI that looks so silly I can't even see any Star wars connection.
I don't see any of the JC robes looking understated like Barris Offee's, or Luminara Unduli's. The most striking look to Luminara Unduli is her head gear which pales compared to some of the other JC headgear we have seen. Shaak Ti again is understated.
This isn't an anti robe thread, this pointing out that far too many JC and SI outfits are way over the top.
The current consular video shows a JC with shoulder pads that are way over the top. His outfit has glowing trim on the robe. When you look at his robe it looks busy it doesn't look subdued which is a unifying feature of the movie examples given.
I will admit that the Jedi Shadow has a robe that isn't busy but again we see over the top shoulder pads. Robes traditionally do not come with inserts that stick out 15 to 30 cm from the shoulders, they normally drape over the shoulders naturally without something causing them to protrude so far from the body. And this isn't sort of a one off type of thing it is very common.
I don't want to imply that everything shown is terrible and unplayable only that when you look at the live shots of Barris Offee, or Luminara Unduli, Darth Maul and Shaak Ti, i am not reminded of Amidala's over the top outfits. The only similarities i see with the 4 examples you gave and the SI/JC outfits is that they are robes.
I'll grant this is only a subjective topic there isn't really an objective measure. I just don't see Jedi and Sith outfits when I see the JC and SI. I am reminded far too many times of Queen Amidala. I feel the other classes presented a look that said both this is a [insert name of the class] and this is Star Wars. I do not get this reaction with most of the outfits I have seen with regards to the SI and the JC.
BioWare did have to extrapolate a lot, so you gotta give them credit. They had to go pretty far on the robe motif, even using a bit of the classic wizard look. It beats only giving the Consulars and Inquisitors 3 or 4 outfits to wear, and no headgear.
I actually think, at least for the Jedi, they've still been pretty conservative. Essentially everything they've shown is something based on either the classic Jedi robes or something the ancient Jedi wore, especially from the Tales of the Jedi comics and earlier. Anything that isn't is taken from senate outfit designs, mostly from the prequels. The Sith's a bit more out there with some of the outfits, but the Sith have always had the craziest outfits, especially sorcerers and alchemists. We have to keep in mind that despite what BW's marketing says, these guys aren't the Sith from the movies and are almost an entirely different culture with different aesthetic.
I honestly don't see a problem with these at all. They're very appropriate.
The inner circle is from the EU they are never seen or talked about in the movies.
and to quote your own link
"Vader held the Inner Circle in utter contempt, as they were not Sith nor did they use the Force;"
So the justification for the JC and the SI to not look like Jedi/sith from the movies is that a bunch of non force using people wore robes? Those robes do not look anything like the the robes of either class.
This isn't a anti-robe thread. I am perfectly fine with Robes. So showing me a picture of a guy in a robe isn't a strong arguement as it actually proves my point the robes shown from the movies look nothing like the outlandish robes in the game.

So the arguement is that because robes are just well robes they need to go crazy and make so many outfits just look silly?
The Inner Circle appears in Return of the Jedi, dude. My point with them is that:
- They were politicians in a Sith-ruled Empire. - The Inquisitor is the political Sith class - Consulars have robes that look like Senate clothing - Therefore, Inquisitors would have robes that look like Sith politician clothing

I never read the comics cited so I lacked that frame of reference. Was it common in these comics to have HUGE shoulder pads with half a dozen layers to the robes?
The arguement for the sith design is actually has some traction but did not we hear that the sith empire and the OLD republic merged to give us THE republic? it is why some people at the time of the movies speak with a 'British accent" and others do not being the specific example given.
There so far is nothing similar to the clothing shown for these classes and the movies. I'll concede that the JC is fashioned around the comics vs the movies so they are by design ment to capture the feel from that source vs the movies. As people familar with the comic series probably will see the JC and think Jedi.
I can't see how the Si looks like star Wars.
I just remember James constantly saying they wanted the iconic look of the movies to be seen both in the enviorment and the classes yet still look like KOTOR. i see nothing Kotor about the robes shown so far and nothing that makes me think of the movies. The movies and Kotor are very conservative in their dress compared to the robes shown.
Quote from HarryTruman The Inner Circle appears in Return of the Jedi, dude.
Show me one link of film footage of them.

It's pretty simple logic.
You keep saying the si looks liek the inner circle and I see NO similarities, other than they are both robes. The colours used by theiner circle are muted and the colours used by the SI is flashing and busy. The patterns (patterns the stand out and catch the eye) are used on the Si robes and the inner circle robes are plain. How exactly are the two similar?
Your logic is simply i just think it is faulty because the inner circle doesn't look anything like the SI robes.
[Edit] I responded between your edits so i have edited this response in return to show more accurately your position.
To answer your question: yes, the Jedi had some pretty intense outfits in the ancient republic.

If you can't remember basic things from the classic movies and haven't explored the EU, why are you so confident about what Jedi and Sith should and shouldn't wear?

Wow so i didn't read a comic and suddenly i haven't explored the EU? Thats a leap, or are you implying that only the comics count from the EU?
If you are so confident that the inner circle is in RotJ I am sure you can provide a link with film footage.
[Edit] Or is this a case of a situation like the "who shot first" debate? It depends on the version of the movie you are watching. If so I don't think either of us would be wrong in our positions.
The film depiction of the Inner Council would be in RotJ, following the Emperor. I think he's also seen talking them just before Vader shows up with Luke. The live-action picture of the Inner Council on their Wookieepedia page isn't some clever all-CGI photoshop. That would be a photo taken from the set.
If you're going to comment on ancient Jedi clothing and haven't read the primary visual sources for ancient Jedi clothing, then yes, I'd say do some more research.
