Hey everyone I'm Ften and I play a Jedi Guardian in the guild Indignation (http://www.indignationpvp.com) on The Swiftsure and I've been playing MMOs for nearly 10 years and if I didn't work so much I would be 50 with all you crazy cats out there. Thankfully I have time to write at work sometimes and decided today was dead enough for an entry!
I've taken the time to respond to some of the concerns people have on the current state of Jedi Guardians in comparison to the other tanks and the overall state-of-mind it takes to be a tank and roll with the punches, the ups and downs of MMO balance and being a tank.
So without further adieu, absolutely love Darth Hater and appreciate everything you guys have done for the community! Please comment if you want to argue, agree or just talk! <3
I've got an entirely different reason as to why I think Guardians are no good: you can't play a Cathar or Devaronian Guardian.
... ok, yes, no player class can be Cathar or Devaronian, but it's the point of the thing ...
In all seriousness, you bring up some very good points; you're absolutely right, player perception is key in these matters. More often than not, no significant factor is actually reducing a class' effectiveness. This is one of those things someone brings up as a simple observation, which that gets jumped on by the vocal minority and blown out of proportion. It's not something that will ever change. All we can hope for is that Bioware realizes the true situation and doesn't skew the game in response to these kinds of allegations.
Thanks Heaven's Agent. Yes this really is an unfortunate reality that happens in all facets of class balance in an MMO. I do hope that Bioware does the right thing and can recognize the right metrics to balance by and not the forum outrage level.
The only thing I would like to change is that the Guardian seems to have lower damage output than other tank ACs. However if that is the case, just bring it up to par or closer to it. If it is up to par and/or close to it, then no big deal I'm more than likely imagining things based on anecdotal evidence and experiences!
I have just recorded a stream on Thursday and put it into my blog to showcase just how you can level with Kira into your late 30s with very little downtime, a lot of offense, and just have a great time.
I hope to hear from you all, and look forward to continuing the blog and keeping you all educated and entertained in the future. Just so I do not keep going I'll put up the link and appreciate all your feedback, sincerely.
Saw your stream and I agree 100% I have been running with Kira the whole time and I also thought that lvls 30-45 we the quickest and most enjoyable lvls with my guardian I have only used doc once and realized it sucked as a guardian so I just went right back to Kira. If people are playing their guardians correctly and staying on top of kira's gear as if it were ur own then they would be wrecking mobs like I was. Most of the time I could kill 4-5 groups of mobs without stopping to heal.
