A Smuggler can be a Medic, healing and supporting his allies.
A Smuggler can be a marksman, entrenched in cover and decimating the enemy with devastating single target attacks.
A Smuggler can be an explosives specialist, leaving craters and blown up Imperial squads in his wake.
A Smuggler can be a stealthy mid range scrapper, approaching enemies unseen and hitting them hard with his scatter gun.
A Smugger can be a daring risk taker, running and gunning into close range and finishing enemies with a few good kicks into places where it hurts.
A Smuggler can be a Smuggler, delivering his group behind enemy lines unseen.
I found this to be an interesting breakdown of the class in terms of how the specialized roles in the advanced classes can play out. For example: the "daring risk taker" scoundrel vs the "stealthy mid range scrapper" scoundrel speaks volumes of the customization within the individual trees. It will be interesting to see if all these variations are viable in the grand scheme of things or if Mr. Zoeller was merely attempting to quash the "Smuggler = WoW Hunter" assumption put forth by the orignal poster in the thread.
That said, I'm very interested in the "daring risk taker, running and gunning into close range and finishing enemies with a few good kicks into places where it hurts" smuggler. Do any of these choices peak your interest as a potential playstyle?
My interest is peaked by all of those styles :) I'm gratified to be tempted by all of them as it suggests a robust and creative game design. I pegged Scoundrel from the beginning, so I hope "Dirty Scrapperbones" will be fun and effective to master.

This is the style that I'm looking for. Maybe with some support/heals added in for good measure. I can't wait for them to give us more information on the AC trees so we can really start figuring out what we are in for.
You guys do realise this pretty much says nothing about the class, nothing that can't be seen by either getting to lvl 10 or taking 5 minutes to look up official site info.

Posted 8/9/2011 7:40:45 PMGood 'ol Georg Zoeller gave us a nice view of the versatility of the Smuggler class in a recent dev post:

Posted 8/18/2011 4:33:18 AMI find it a bit disturbing.
Sneaking around with a shotgun and unloading it at pointblank from behind out from the shadows. Then kicking them in the groin when downed.

Posted 8/20/2011 3:13:24 AMIt's the Sith invasion...
...with a Republic twist on a smaller scale. Repayment in installments with interest. The disturbing part is free of charge. :)

Posted 12/28/2011 4:06:17 PMYou do realize this topic is 4 months old, from a time when most of us hadn't played the game right?
