The Hunting Compendium 1.0 - Everything we know so far.

  • #1 Fedaykin

    Hello everyone and welcome,

This is a general gathering of knowledge regarding the Bounty Hunter class. I will try to update this topic with everything I can find for myself or what you may toss at me (as long as it is on the subject of Bounty Hunters). Please keep your replies to this on-topic and informative.

    <font color="#FF671C">Overview:</font>
    1). Legenda
    2). Resource
    3). Skills and Abilities
    4). Tools and Gadgets
    5). Paths and sub-classes
    6). Missions/Quests
    7). Armour sets
    8). Playable races
    9). Bounty Hunter NPCs

    <font color="#FF671C">1. Legenda</font>
    Confusing gibberish brought to clarity:
<font color="#FFFFFF">CC</font> - Crowd Control, abilities that will allow you to temporarily disable an enemy from partaking in the fight.
<font color="#FFFFFF">AOE</font> - Area of Effect, damages multiple enemies in a certain radius.

    <font color="#FF671C">2. Resource</font>
Bounty Hunters will use 'heat' as a resource. Being a technological class, the overheating of their equipment will have to be managed.

It's a ranged class, with a weapon use that isn't limited by rage, mana, or energy - the Bounty Hunter has to deal with heat. Decent attacks - the knockdown area-of-effect Missile Blast, and channelled Flame Thrower - all accumulate heat, and once your guage is full, you're stuck with phaser fire and the longer cooldown attacks like the paralysing Electro Dart, and the hugely damaging, but conditional Rail Shot. (To fire the rail shot, your target must be stunned, sleeping, or on fire). Our final move is the desperate Vent Heat, which can cool you down once a minute, and give you a chance to deal some heavy damage again. ( source )

    <font color="#FF671C">3. Abilities</font>
Since the release of the Bounty Hunter class till the latest Video Documentry (Number #4), we have gotten a sneak preview at some of the Bounty Hunters abilities. They are to be listed here, with either their confirmed or suspected properties or in-game functions.

    <font color="#FFFFFF">Recharge and Reload</font>
    - Out of combat
    - Self-healing (Possibly to a 100% health)

    <font color="#FF671C">4. Tools and Gadgets</font>

    <font color="#FFFFFF">Pistols</font>
The main weapon of the Bounty Hunter.

    <font color="#FFFFFF">Wrist mounted launcher</font>
Bounty Hunters seem to be fully focussed on their wrist mounted launchers. This multifunctional gadget seems to have an unlimited potential, firing both freezing and flaming substances and many types sorts of missiles and grenades.

    <font color="#FFFFFF">Backpack or jetpack</font>
Used to either move yourself or your enemies with. Also seems to come with a 'neck missile' at times, which seems to cause a greater ammount of exposive damage than an explosive wrist missile.

    <font color="#FF671C">5. Paths and sub-classes</font>

    <font color="#FF671C">6. Missions Quests</font>
"The Great Hunt" storyline - much is unclear, but it seems to be the bounty hunter's main story.
"Nem'ro the Hutt" quests - gaining this prominent figure his blessing should be a good idea.

    <font color="#FF671C">7. Armour sets</font>
There have been a number of armour sets released so far, with a great variaty of bulkyness and appearance.

"The Mandalorian Suit" ( image | image | swf )
This suit of armour, typically identified from Jango and Boba Fett from the movies, seems to be showing itself in many varations of colour and style of painting.

"The BioTech Suit" ( image )
This set of armour seems almost bio-engineered.

"The Scout Suit" ( image )
This set of armour, at least the very recogniseable helmet, seems alot lighter than the other suits.

    <font color="#FF671C">8. Playable races</font>
A list of known playable species for the Bounty Hunter class.
    - Human
    - Rattaki

    <font color="#FF671C">9. Bounty Hunter NPC's</font>
A list of identified bounty hunter NPC.
    - Mandalore the Vindicator?

I would recommend to look at our site and with the information we have gathered so far on the BH:

And also the TOR forums with the information that others have gathered and is usually a very up to date list here:

    Stickied, nice roundup.

  • #3 Sleeper

Glad to see it again! Good work Fedaykin

  • #4 r2d2arm

Good work!  I have some suggestions for additions.

The UK EA Press Event showcased the Bounty Hunter again on some missions on Hutta.  I wrote a little summary of this event, here.

Of particular importance are following bits of info I gathered:

    • Quests for Nem'ro the Hutt
    • The Heat gauge (sort of like a mana bar) - Heat accumulates when using various skills and must be reduced either through normal attacks or the Vent Heat skill
    • The Bounty Hunter out of combat "heal" is called Recharge and Reload

  • #5 Predacon

Great stuff mate, love the screenies.  I'll be keeping my eye on this thread.

  • #6 Fedaykin

Wow I discovered I uploaded an old version of the HTML file I had saved. New one updated now! Sorry about that.

Thanks alot for your contribution r2d2arm, your piece on heat gauge was added. I took the liberty of looking it up on some fansites describing it. I'll add your other two points aswell now.

Hm, I could use a picture of the out of combat heal, does it exist?

  • #7 r2d2arm

I do not know.  There were not many in-game screenshots shown for the event.  There's the chance that a previous demonstration, such as from PAX, had the recharge and reload skill icon in the toolbar.

I'm interested to know about their purpose in a PvP or PvE. I know we have not seen melee weapons in the game, but this class seems to be one where they can go hand to hand against Jedi and throw them off with their gadgetrs and their maneuverability to overtake the Jedi with ease. Though, from the gameplay teasers, it seems like Jedi have the upper hand against the BH with his close crowd control and making the BH fear from the Jedi by running away from him/her to attack again. Well see, I love ranged but maybe some incorporation of melee would be nice from the BH.

Can we get all the formatting removed from the op. Also the link to another area oh DH is broken.
