This first picture is from the trailer. In the trailer we see this ship in space combat and, then we see the bounty hunter in the cockpit, and then a shot of it taking off... Now then this next picture: (slight spoiler on BH quest incoming)
So that image is taken during the mission we see in WGC's video. The quest is to go kill the best quickdraw out there, Vex. So i posted the first picture on my guild forums (before realizing this was Vex's ship) and my guildie replied with this
"Could be that after you've completed a mission you're required to get off planet fast. If that's Hutta then this could be how we get off the starter planet" -AkianDemios
I think he is 100% right about that, and the fact that this is Vex's ship reinforces that... Now anyone who's watched the BH Gameplay video or has been lucky enough for a hands on knows there are a few reasons, especially one BIG reason, which i'd rather not spoil, as to why we would need to get off the starter planet in the first place. I doubt we start off as some rich amazing bounty hunter at level one, so how else do you get a ship? steal the dead guy's ship....
Edit: This would raise a few more questions... Is this like the regular ship, and our actual class ship will be like the upgraded version? (i.e. epic mount). And if a Bounty Hunter gets a ship at the beginning, do all classes go through something that leads them to receiving a free ship?
It could just be a shuttle, as in the Recall Shuttle ability or whatever it's called. It could also just be a plot device, like the captured Sith ship for Taral V, that gets the player off of Hutta and leads into the acquisition of the player ship. I don't think there is enough information or evidence to do anything but blindly guess.

recall shuttle is just a teleportation ability it won't have a full cinematic animation to the area, just a ship apearing screen goes blank and then you're in the hangar.
I'm pretty certain it's not meant to be a regular player ship, as it's half the size of all the other player ships we've seen. I think the simplest explanation will do, namely that it's just part of a particular quest that gets you off-planet. Probably not even the only time you steal a ship during a mission.
In one of the PAX videos on youtube, someone did use the "Call Shuttle", and he basically just got teleported to his bindpoint. I'll try and find the video again.
The Recall ship ability worked at PAX Prime, and all it does is teleport your character to your bind station.
I used it myself.
If you notice the way the screenshot of the BH in the cockpit is taken, you can see that it is from a cinematic sequence...This is obviously a story plot of how the BH gets off Hutta.
Even if it was the recall ship, do you think it would have things blowing up behind you? No matter how epic I don't think its that. It's probably a plot device from point A to B or whatever, with that heroic "narrow escape"

Posted 3/15/2011 4:24:34 PMHey everyone,
So I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but I think my buddy nailed this exactly. Take a look at these 2 pictures:

Posted 3/16/2011 1:04:09 AM@chronium do you have any evidence for this?
Also, I like this ship it looks very cool but it is a little small to be a player starship unless we are dealing with TARDIS tech.

Posted 3/16/2011 8:31:15 PMI think I recall a statement that the player ships were made to scale, meaning no TARDIS tech in-game. That was certainly my impression at any rate.

Posted 11/3/2011 6:30:48 PMYou don't get player ships until you finish up the capital planet so around 15 or so.
