I am curious as to how differently a powertech BH spec'd firebug will differ from a merc BH spec'd firebug. If so does this pose potential balancing problems? I just thought of this as I was thinking of leveling as a merc firebug.
Ive played this actually. The Pyrotech (new name) tree talents change depending on whatever AC you choose. If you choose PT, lot of the pyro trees focus on your melee and midrange abilitys (rocket punch and flame burst), where as if you go Merc your proc abilitys will work with unload and power shot. So you could still be a Pyro with either, just depends on if you like to be up close more, or stay at ranged.
From my experiance, Merc Arsenal felt a little "turrety". But going down the Pyrotech tree, it felt a little more mobile. Still had to cast power shot/unload though. Pyrotech has nice DOT's; just keeping those up I could melt down people. Power-Pyrotech had a nice snare built-in in the last build this weekend. You could close to 10 yards and Flame Burst someone, slowed them for 2 seconds for 50% (wish it was at least 4sec) and you could chase players around punching them in the face and keeping your dots up. Flame Burst becomes your best friend. Adds your DoT and a Snare with decent damage modifiers as a Pyro.
In all, I will be rolling a Firebug, erm, Pyrotech (the name fits better I guess, just been useing the old one for SO long). But I'm very torn between PT and Merc. I had a blast rolling around, getting in peoples face, setting them on fire, then HUARUUKIN! uppercut to finish them off. I also liked standing back and unloading on a pack, setting them ALL on fire, and watching them melt. I think my only option here is to roll two BH's. Looks like, I'll have two mains =p

Posted 11/30/2011 1:35:22 PMI just noticed in the talent calc that the talents are not mirrored. So it is 2 different trees, just with the same flavor i guess.
