A Hypothesis on Mercinary DPS in Ops

    I come from a guild that has a lot of Mercinaries. Our main healer in fact used to be a Mercinary but he rerolled and went Sorc because Soorcers are op have heals are more useful in raids.

    All Joking asside, the following hypothesis has been formed by considering what I know about the different styles of dps available Mercinaries. My conclusion does make some assumptions though so I go over the logic of my conclusions.

    1. Assumption: The entire raid can benefit from the armor debuff from tracer missile. This armor debuf is very significant and on high armored bosses, greatly increases damage output.

    2. Fact: While individual attacks in the Pyrotech tree hit for lower HP totals, critical chance and surge rating of raiding gear is sufficent enough that by the time you get a full set of gear, individual attacks will critical damage multiplyer over 100%, while some abilities have critical chances between 40% and 50%. Having 2 dots at a time on a target also makes up for some of the damage difference betwen Arsenal and Pyrotech

    3. Fact: Pyrotech also has additional heat mitigation options that Arsenal does not have access to. It really all comes down to how often you can proc free Rail Shots and making good use of Thermal Sensor overide to cast 25 heat incendary misssiles for free. If you can proc free rail shots once every 10 seconds or so, you can essentially continue casting your abilities for several minutes at a time, never run out of heat, and never have to use Rapid Shots.

    Assuming that all of the above is true, the best way to maximize your damage output while having a lot of Mercinaries is to have only 1 or at most 2 Arsenal specced Mercinaries and then have all the rest spec Pyrotech

    Interesting read and it sounds like you're right. I don't know enough about merc to agree or disagree though. My BH is a powertech.
