I played through dragon age awakening with no companions since I decided to be a tool and in that game you can turn down every party member. As a warrior it made the game significantly harder. I imagine if you were an arcane warrior/bloodmage it would be fine but most classes would have issues.
I don't think you can really go without a companion if the game is being built with the assumption that you have one. A rough example using WoW is that every raid encounter in Burning Crusade up to Ulduar in WoW was designed around raids having 1-2 holy paladins to keep up with damage levels. It could be done without them but the encounters were designed with them in mind.
If the game isn't designed around having companions they will just trivialize it, and if it is you are handicapping yourself by not using them.
I look at it this way, snipers always work in teams of two. So from an RP standpoint i'm not bothered at all, even agents likely have a handler or support staff.
Hi just wanted to remind you guys to stay on target. This thread is about the agent and not about how companions work.
There were a couple of Haters that got their hands on the IA at E3... were there any differences in the voice?
I mean, was there more than one male voice heard for the different Agents or were all the Agents you folks played the same voice as we hear in this video?
How would you describe the pace of the IA? How long is the setup time etc.
How was the downtime for the class?
Is in-cover abilities still available when shooting at targets on the same side of the cover as the IA?
Setup consists of rolling into cover, so less than a second. Downtime was nonexistent at level 2, and I never had to pay attention to my health(except when I intentionally killed myself) I was able to snipe targets on the same side of cover as me, I just didnt get the defensive advantage.

Hard to answer this one. Bioware set it up so there were 2 of each class (excluding the two Jedi) one male, one female. I had the female IA and dont know what Dover's sounded like.

Haha, typical Zoidberg, going for the girl
And to keep it on-topic, I've a question, too:
Did you run into Agent-specific gear, or any class-specific gear for that matter?
I was wondering while in cover or with sheilds up what if someone comes up behind you can you turn around without comming out of cover. Like im playing AoC now and if you spell weave you cant hit targets behind you. So melee comes up and tears you apart.

I didnt run into any Agent specific gear, mostly because I got one gear drop and it was heavy armor so I couldnt use it.. Sleeper was the one that got all the good loot.

I'm fairly sure you can, but not 100%. It could have just been reflexes on my part to try and move when in danger and moving gets you out of cover.
I have a question. When entering Nemro's Palace what was the layout like? From the screenshots of Hutta, it looks pretty massive in the distance. Did it have a "high tech" interior with droids patrols. Did you get to see Nemro the Hutt?

I only went about 3 feet inside until I realized that I was looking for a starport and not a Hutt hideout. With that being said, it is very similar to the screenshots. It was a looming target out in the distance with a very large opening (making me think it might be the starport) The interior was very high tech with the typical defenses of a crimelord's palace. I did not get to see any Hutts though.
Could you expand on your experience with the Imperial Agent's stealth ability? Was it an instant stealth? Did targets around you notice you while stealthed?

I'm not sure they had stealth at the level they were playing.

Dark CouncilorPlay Kotor without companions and it will probably end up being pretty much the same equivalent to TOR.
