PvP: What are the best roles for your sniper in battlegroudns? Set up typical tactics for each of the different battlegrounds?
What class do you least like to see on 1v1? What do you most like to see for 1v1? What situation do you not want to be caught in, and if you are, what can you do to live on?
Describe you favorite talent build for PVP? Why? Are any other builds viable for PvP or is there generally one build for PvP and one for PvE?
What class/classes do you work best in tandem with?
That should give a good start...

The biggest trouble for a sniper has to be a tank. They can survive your burst and attack/cc you. I enjoy fighting other IA's and really anything other than tank is easy.
You don't want to be caught in a situation were you are left alone without any backup against 3+ players. You usually can get away by popping CC's and los'ing though.
My favorite talent for pvp has to be ambush. It just does so much damage, and crits a lot.
The engi tree is alright for aoe, and seems viable in raids, but I dont see any other tree being as good as MM in pvp as is now.
Any healer+IA is the equation for domination. (refer to my vid above).
How did the cover system work for/against you in PvP or raids? Was it something that became second nature to you or was it something that seemed to burden you a lot of the times?

In that linked video, you're fighting against people 30 levels below you, some even more. The closest I saw was someone 20 levels below you. Knowing that, you actually looked pretty weak.
Do you have any experience fighitng other level 50s?
Good morning everyone. Let me try to explain one thing to all of you complaining I'm "picking on lower levels." If the stats were not bolstered to 50 in beta, and there were brackets, there would be no way in hell you would get a full game at level 50, ever. I am not picking on low levels, nor have I intentionally recorded a video wher I only vs low levels.
I do have experience fighting level 50's, but again, the majority of players in beta were not 50. The majority were lower levels, and thats the reason that there weren't brackets. I simply recorded a vid in the last days of beta and wanted to show it to you guys so you get a sense of what sniper is like in pvp.
Take the video for how you will, just understand I never claimed I am a great sniper, even thought I do think I was one of the better ones on my server (there weren't many of us).
And for those of you thinking I am "weak," I only died twice during that entire match, and thats when i mistakenly ran into a group of their team without having back up. Any one, from any class would die if they were ganged up on 4 or more on one.
Please understand the intentions of the video. Thank you.
How did the cover system work for/against you in PvP or raids? Was it something that became second nature to you or was it something that seemed to burden you a lot of the times?
The cover system is actually well done from what I have seen before. I have no had trouble with cover at all, even thought I wish they would offer more natural cover on boss fights. Cover is something you get used to playing the game. If going into cover isn't second nature to you by level 50, you're doing it wrong.
How well did the Sniper work in PvE ops. Example, How many times did you aggro? How many times did you die? How efficent was the DPS versus bosses?
And as @kraken asked how well did the cover system works in PvE?
I'm wondering since I plan to continue the IA story as Sniper when early access comes.
In my opinion (no dps meters yet) sniper is one of the best (if not the best) pve dps. I would actually aggro a lot of bosses and had to hold back for a few because I was pulling aggro off the tank (we have a threat reduction skill).
The dps vs bosses was good, just make sure you keep your energy up or you'll be stuck doing basically no damage.
Do you prefer using your own cover screen or using the enviroment? Also 2-3 times it looked like you were using the enviroment then some super mega shield screen appeared at or above your head. What was that?

I havent focues to much into IA.
I prefer environment because i can actually get "Cover" instead of some incoming damage.
That big shield is a aoe shield we can put up that reduces the damage taken by 20% of any allies within the shield. (Called ballistic shield, i think).
Hey Daniteh thanks for giving us some inside info.
I don't have a lot of experience with Sniper from beta; but when glancing at the abiltiies they seem oddly familair.
So some questions regarding sniper: - In a lot of videos I actually saw Ambush and Snipe do pretty similar damage, and torhead also shows damage being equal. Yet your videos show that Ambush is the big hitter (2k hits / 4k crits) and Snipe the smaller hitter (1-1.25k hits / 2-2.5k crits), which of course makes more sense. Is this simply due to scaling with stats. Is that just wrong on torhead and odd coincidence in the video; or is ambush scaling much better from stats? As a (hardcore) theorycrafter in WoW I know there stats scaled depending on the cast time.
- You and a LOT of others tend to open up with ambush. Is this purely for the effect of surprise and layering burst? Because with Snap Shot / Reactive Shot and Laze Target (or any combination of those) isn't more beneficial to start with an instant snipe to (potentially) knock that 1 second cast time off of Ambush ? - Hooking in on that; how effective is weaving Ambush in your rotation? Is it too long a cast to just use on the fly and do you only use it with Reactive Shots proc; or did you feel the high damage warrants its use regardless.
- In regards to the Sniper Volley talent (if you have experience with that). I assume stacking it 3 times gives 9% alacrity for 6 seconds; but I've seen weirder things and the wording isn't exactly super clear either so can you confirm it still has a 6 second duration with 3 stacks, or does the time stack as well (18 seconds seems rather extreme).
- Got any good priority list when it comes to skills. A cooldown and resource dependent class like we currently are works bad with rotation. So just wondering if you have any gut feeling (obviously non-facts since we don't have damage meters or anything) on the ability priority.
- Last: Found out any nice tricks or out of the box thinking ? For example in one of your attacks I saw you using explosive probe right as Ambush finished and that seemed to set it off right away (?).

@Archer That shield is called entrench, basically you're immune to cc for 20? seconds.
@Nyth:
Yes, I usually start out with ambush, but that is just habit. Leveling up, I always start with ambush on groups of mobs even thought its 2.5sec cast instead of instant like snipe. The reason for this is simply it does more damage, which answers another one of your questions. I think it actually has a higher crit chance too, or it just feels that way to me. The correct rotation would be laze target>snipe>explosive>ambush. Rather than starting with ambush.
Ambush is great on your rotation, with an ambush/explosive probe I could take half health off a player/mob. I try to use it only with proc, but its hard sometimes in pvp to track procs.
Sniper volley only gives you .1-.2 seconds faster cast. Not worth it imo.
My rotation would be cover>laze>snipe>explosive>ambush>followthrough>series of shots>repeat.
Definately a good trick you noticed there, I'm not sure if it's a bug or not, but you can cast explosive probe while your ambush is set off, and it will trigger on the ambush hit if you press it quick enough.
Other than that its not hard to figure out others :).

Posted 12/6/2011 11:15:26 PMHey guys, I played sniper to level 50 last build, and actually tested out some endgame raids (EV) and did lots of PvP.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have, and I will do my best to answer them.
