Agent Story and Characters [SPOILERS duh]

  • #1 Kraxis

I must say that it has impressed me, eventhough I knew a great deal about the story already, or rather that it was cool and features some pretty interesting people. But my oh my, I was still surprised. I wasn't so much impressed with Hutta as I was not noticing the usual cliches and obvious gamey ploys. It was fluid.

But my real interest has to be the characters. It is like Imperial Intelligence has eaten up all the juicy stuff. I believe it is that geeky looking Alexander dude that has been in charge of that aspect, and it is good. People like Watcher 1 (from Jedi Knight story), Watcher 2 and Keeper, heck even Kaliyo has her moments. But for me the greatest of them all has to be Darth Jadus. This might sound a bit corny or geeky, but when I was summoned to his private lair, it was the first time ever I felt fear for my character. I had decided to be snarky with the Sith, but I was surprised to find myself no daring to pick those options with him. That calm, deliberate and utterly cold voice with the simple threats and implied results of his 'influence'... Ouch, the guy is pretty scary, well beyond the regular 'I'll cut off your head and do stuff down the neck' type.

Keeper himself is perhaps less 'new' but he certainly is a fresh breath of air in Star Wars. I particularly liked the part with the little meeting before the Dark Temple story. When Jadus demands to use only the Agent (us) and I relied with a scorching sarcasm (really well done, not obvious but just that little hint) and Keeper interjected a simple almost sighing "not now agent", while Jadus is completely clueless to it all. Perfect. Watcher 2 is one of those characters you just expect to have something more to her, but the storywriter knows that he has to keep it in store for later.

If this keeps up, and from what people have said, it does, then it will really be something else. Like playing a real spy novel.

I loved the IA story too Laughing I will definatly create a IA as my main on the Sith side. I know what you mean about Jadus Smile Didn't dare to disobey him either, I do know what happens though. He KILLS you Smile

Imperial Agent: Check, Trooper: Check, Bounty Hunter: Check, Smuggler: Check!!

Who needs force powers when you got a Blaster at your side. Cool

yeah i kneeled before jadus as well, with My operative. I belive its the lack of emotion that jadus transmits that makes one unsetled. :P

I  was planing to role a bounty hunter, but at the last minute i changed to IA, and oh boy i wasnt disapointed, no sir. Its simply great.

The story certainly took a turn after that. I'm still not believing it entirely. Won't spoil it, regardless of the tags, that one can't be said.

But think about it. How powerful in the Dark Side would you have to be to make non-Force users feel it by justing standing near you.

I kinda felt the opposite when I met Jadus in beta weekend(didn't roll on live yet). I wasn't scared, but I was impressed. He definitely had Imperial Intelligence in mind more than random evil Sith schemes. A Sith of the people so to speak. Respect for his not being the typical "rawr evil crap" that you see with so many other Sith in the Empire.

I got massive nerdgasms on the final mission of Chapter one. Without spoilers, i'm simply going to tell you this: Nothing in the world will ever make you so scared, concerned and doubtful over the choices you are going to make and the path you are going to chose at the end of Chapter One in that lonely dreadnaught ship.

My personal choices were: Give the codes, launch the attack, sabotage, capture the boss. And DAYUM that was like.... i can't express how much i loved that last part. No game ever touched me like this before.

This was exactly why i chose to be an agent, to make those dificult choices for the Empire.

    This ^^

And the Sith be damned, I thought being a "Light" agent would be tough, it really isn't. I'm doing the things noone else can (or will), and a bit of snark thrown in, Kaltio doesn't agree with everything I do but she really digs me (and that;'s with very few gifts, even)

Kaliyo is pretty easy to be friends with. Going the Light path means she will love you for standing up to the Sith. Going Dark she will like you for randomly killing and hurting people. And that is alright, she is the first companion, so her affection should be somewhat easier to deal with.

Got to say that the Agent [flirt] has taken off as of late for me. It seems I can't meet any new woman without flirting with her. Heck even a hulking brute of a BT3 Sith Warrior female. That was actually rather amusing. Talk about being James Bond there.

    --------<Romance spoilers>--------

Honestly i got Lokin's, Vector's and Temple's affection alot quicker than kalyio, very often she didn't like my choices. Not that i care, there is a scene where i was officially in romance with kalyio (i had a dinner with her O_o) and then gone onto Temple. Temple asked me "is it ok with kalyio?" and im like "actually lets sort this thing right now" and i promtly dumped kalyio :D

I did, however, change the looks of temple, i think her voice fits better with the one i chose.

When I first met Jadus I thought he was bat shit crazy and I couldn't wait to kill him, even when he "died" I knew it was faked because they introduced him way to early to just write him off then.

OH boy just got to act 1 ...nerdgasm... dam i left the game last night after activating the attack and i can't decide what to do... so far im playing the maximum damage to the empire way of things... after all as a chiss, facing the racism and almost simple mindedness of the sith it came naturally. Really thinking to join jadus and have fun in the mess he will create... or at list i would like him to undermine the Imperial power-base.

Any one playes the join the jadus option?

    SPOILER WARNING (/disclaimer)

Chronium hit it squarely on the head. Jadus was too imporant a figure, and what the main site says about him: "It is clear that Jadus is playing  a long game. Until he makes a move, however, there's nothing anyone can do."

No WAY were they going to just up and rub him out like that so soon at the end of the PROLOGUE.

Jadus is oddly calm and detached unlike the "cookie-cutter" Sith who thrives on passion and feelings. And yes he sent a lot of shivers down my spine, I never ever wanted to make him unhappy with me. Even as a modern woman who would loathe and despise the thought in RL, I was ready to prostrate my character in front of Jadus and become his... well, never mind :P

Vector actually makes an interesting romance partner for women agents.  He's a very complex character and having been part of a "hive mind" society and joined it willingly gives him a lot of depth. You'll have to get him lots of boxes of candy hearts as he's too squishy to use extensively in soloing, but it might pay off if you like a good story.

SERIOUS SPOILER WARNING, BEWARE-- I will reduce the font size to the smallest possible if that helps hide it from anyone who doesn't to see--

If you side with Jadus on the Dreadnaught, Vector's affection rating will go straight into the toilet. He even has a line of dialogue in the cutscene where you can see the utter shock and horror he feels. You will have to do some serious damage control with him afterward.

My first agent was as ruthless a cold-blooded killer and a heartless b***h as you could get. I'm now going to try the flip side; an Agent who will do what she must, including murder, but who cares about the regular people of the Empire and believes that you can live as an Imperial subject without living in fear every day, and she has vowed to prove it. She might be deluded by the fact that the Empire cuts the Chiss (my chosen race) a little more slack than many other people... but it's what she believes.

    /Spoiler

So I joined w/ Jadus. A somewhat non-spoilerish summary is:

Jadus does really bad stuff, Empire trucks through, Jadus promotes you to his #1. Then he basically goes away and you deal entirely w/ 'imperial intelligence'.

Does the story really change at all w/ choosing to not join jadus?

I finished Act 1 on my sniper on my current server. I figured out the correct dialogue to trigger the follow-up mission "Blackmail" at the end of "A New Epoch of Fear."

I was left with a lot of shivers down my girlie spine. It was fantastic.

SPOILER ALERT: I will reduce the font size to the smallest possible and add a strikethrough effect.

Pick the dialogue options: Not Interested, But if I die you get nothing, My allies are listening, I'm certain.       You get a huge affection boost with Vector if he's your active companion. Jadus goes into exile but vows to return one day. You take command of the dreadnaught and you and Watcher Two flyh it back to the Fleet. Watcher Two still gets promoted to the new Keeper when all is said and done and you go "back to work."

WARNING: This way of ending "A New Epoch of Fear gives a big big light side increase, for all those dark-siders out there.

    (/spoilers)

It was an amazing experience for me to get this option; one of four ways to follow up, "A New Epoch of Fear." Definitely weak in the knees but exhiliarated.
