the playstyle is like a rogue right?

i heard it like wasnt full melee and it didnt really play like one but i thought from lookin up stuff it looked like the "rogues" of star wars the old republic

or is there a certain level were it "feels more like a rogue" from that level on,cuz i wanted to go full melee but i heard it isnt full melee for a while

I would have to agree. I leveled one to about 25 in beta, and it is pure roguish fun.

In the pure sense of a rogue than yes, you have stealth, melee, and CC's. But it plays a little differently. At 50 you'll spend 80-90% of your time using melee abilities while cycling in rifle shot to maintain 60+ energy.

Unlike a traditional rogue you bring more utility to groups with buffs, cleanse and backup heals. In my opinion the class and playstyle of concealment ops is the best incarnation I've ever seen of the rogue archtype in any MMO.

Be warned though, the class has alot to manage if you want to excel.

    Insufficient challenge

In a basic fight (pvp or pve) you would need to use of the following skills:

    Hidden Strike
    Backstab
    Acid Blade
    Shiv
    Laceration
    Frag Grenade
    Overload Shot
    Corrosive Dart
    Stim Boost
    Adrenaline Probe
    Shield Probe
    Cloaking Screen
    Debilitate
    Flash Bang
    and your Relics

These are only the basic skills you really use all the time, so be sure to be able to handle a lot of bindings and even simultaniously ;) If you can utilize all these skills at the right time you will really have no worries regarding pvp or pve, I can promise you that ^^ Just be sure to have some extra key slots for the rest of the skills that are very situational ;)

If you're using WoW comparisons, I'd say it's more likely a druid, (feral for Concealment, balance for sniper, restoration for medic spec). I would say that rogue is more similar to the sith assassin, dont you think?

  • #6 Condylomata

Not really. An assassin doesn't really use that many skills that require to be behind the target. They just use Maul (with Expose Weakness) so they are really not too obliged to stay behind the enemy. Okay as Concealment you only have 1 more but hey :D All I can say is that the "roguey" feeling is very present with the operative because you are nearly ever forced to rely on ranged attacks. I would rather compare it to the rogue class of Rift where you had the possibility to take additionally the Archer soul and could still do great damage from afar even though you were completely melee.

ya as far as wow comparisons go i heard assassins were more like enhance shamans.but i dont know,i havent decided what side(empire or republic) i wanna be on yet but i know smuggler scoundrels look pretty fun to

unless operatives dont really have any skills like shadowstep were you can get behind your target, cuz if a assassin is basically the same playstyle only you dont have to get behind your target then i might just go with that.i was originally gonna make a assassin but i heard operative had more of a "rogue type" playstyle
